And so now will the fight begin over the trust? Or is it ironclad? Who gets it now?
The money she had already recieved, if there is any left - will go to her father. The money still in the trust that has not been distributed will go to Whitney's mom and siblings.

From what I understand, the fighting over the trust has already started.

I think so too. But, unless they can show compelling evidence that she was killed prior to being put in the tub then I think they will have a hard time proving a case. And, if she had drugs in her system, which it seemed like they were all on, then I think it will be hard to prove beyond reasonable doubt.
I think the Police have other information that hasn't been released and were waiting to see if she was going to recover or die. And, now that she died, they can go forward. I do think that I have heard that the body had bruises, etc. But, not sure how relevant that might be.
I dont think they will be able to prove murder at this point. She was probably stoned which contributed to her death. And even if they find old injuries , Nick can claim a prior fight or whatever. I don't think it will go anywhere. If she was beaten , they could have gone after that.

I'm quite certain they have been collecting evidence all along. But they couldn't charge anyone with murder until she actually died.

From what I am hearing, she had a habit of doing drugs and falling asleep in the bathtub. EMTs had been called more than once for the same reason...
Yes. SHe was an adult. And, she took drugs willingly as well. So, it isn't going to be that easy to prove a murder unless she was beaten to death prior to drowning.
