I want to apologize for my terrible rantings on the thread about muslims.

I let my emotions at the time get the better of me.

I don't hate anyone. I may hate actions but not the person.

It may be too little, too late. But I am sorry I let my emotions of the moment get the better of me.

I am sorry I offended everyone.

You didn't offend me, Lily. I didn't agree with the sentiment of wanting the entire group wiped from the face of the Earth because not all Muslims are bad people. However, I understand where the sentiment comes from. Most terrorists these days are radical Muslims. It's ignorant to pretend otherwise. I can very much understand wanting ISIS and their ilk wiped off the face of the Earth.

I read your post as letting off steam. It's incredibly angering that our military men were subject to a terrorist attack on our soil. Any true American would feel anger at that act. I don't fault you or anyone for expressing that anger.

It was hate speech toward a group of people. You can all flame me if you wish but let's call it what it is. If it had been directed at ISIS or terrorists then that would have been different.

I agree with NJN and frankly I am still disgusted that it was allowed to go on as long as it did. Not until flan was rebuked was the thread closed and lily warned. It shouldn't have been allowed to get to that point but I do appreciate it being closed and I told LL as much.

Thank you lily. The anger should be against isis who not only kill Westerners but their own fellow countryman as well.

Look. I know it was wrong of me.

I was reacting to the terror that took place literally 20 minutes from my house.

It was anger, fear and sorrow.

I know I was wrong.

I just really needed to say I am ashamed that I said what I did.

I'm human. I fail. I take full responsibility for my words.

That's why it's so important to be careful of what you say and do when you are angry and afraid. What you did, by lashing out at a whole group of people, is no different than what happened when people lashed out with anger at the Brown verdict. Or any of the things that have happened lately. People, who have the right to be angry, use that anger in a destructive way and not a constructive way.

My mom used to say sometimes sorry isn't good enough. For me, it's too little too late.

Lily, I am glad to see you step up and apologize about the muslim postings. Unfortunately, as I have learned over the years (but not very well), an apology does not erase the things said/written. But, I, too understand where you were coming from.

Don't dwell on it; drop it and get on with your life.

Really NJN?  I have noticed nowadays that Apologies are never accepted anyway, so honestly why bother to apologize?  Even when someone does, then it just isn't "good enough", too little too late or they start rehashing the whole thing over.  That is the one thing I learned in life, is that people no longer can graciously accept an apology even over the most minor things, so don't bother.

I agree with Chef.

I understood your feelings and was not offended. 9-1-1 was very close to me, as I watched in horror, the smoke emanating from the Pentagon. I fled in fear that day, with reports that our office was also under attack out of retaliation from handing down the indictments from the first attack on the WTC. I was in the courtroom during the Zacarias Moussaoui trial and sentencing. I wept as I listened to the ****pit recording of Flight 93, and recorded messengers left on loved ones voicemail passengers made as the planes were being high jacked. So I get it. And while I don't condemn all Muslims, there is an element of mistrust and hesitation I still feel when I see them. Experience does have an affect on people's views.

While I was not offended, I do appreciate your apology to those who were. As Karl said, don't dwell.

When we forget who our enemy is--we've lost the war.

Go back and watch the video taken in Palestine after 9/11 where THOUSANDS of Palestinian Muslims were cheering wildly as the towers went down--and then see if you still believe the nonsense about a "small" group of radicals.

You have entire governments supporting terrorism (although, ironically, not ISIS).

Here as well.  But I don't read many posts here as I do not side with, think or feel like the majority of regular posters on this board .  It may have been a post dealing with religion, faith, or politics, perhaps; I wisely keep away from those.

I generally stay away too.  I don't enjoy arguing.  It's just not my thing.

Aw, two of my favorite kids... biggrin

JK.  But everyone should know by now that I'm not motivated by, shall we say, "debate", so I stay out of those as well.

I think by now we know who the debaters are & who the non-debaters are.

I TRY to stay away.  I will admit I am not always successful in that endeavor.
