It's Saturday morning, I want to still be in bed. Finally fell asleep around 2, not sure when I woke up got got out of bed due to DH's snoring.
It still a sunny Saturday, lower humidity, change of showers this afternoon. So, normal for August.
Not that I will be enjoying much of the weather this weekend anyway. I am trying to get one of my final projects mostly done. It's the one where I create my independent senior living community and include how volunteers are utilized.
And public transit is making the papal visit that much more of a nightmare. Instead of just selling tickets (website crashed every time they tried), they are doing it with a one day lottery system. You sign up, and they will send you an email if you won after three days. And they are still screwing over many, many regular customers who need to work that weekend since they are only accepting the papal passes for using the train system. They will not accept any regular passes. And, you need a separate pass for each day There is talk of people getting passes and then selling them at jacked up prices.
I'm up. Mom and the kids are going to the zoo and aquarium today. And they made enough noise to wake the dead. Oh well. Now the house is mine for a while.
Friend coming over later.
I'm hungry.
Have a great day yall.

I just saw a T-shirt on Facebook that I want, but I couldn't really wear it so what would be the point? It said "Buckle up, Buttercup, you just flipped my Bitch switch."

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.
Looks like a gorgeous day today. DD has a piano lesson at 11 am and then a sleepover at a friend's tonight at 6 pm. My older son is working and we will probably take our younger son out later to practice driving with his permit. I have some bookwork to do today and then I might cook something after I figure out what I want to make today.
Where are you jlbear? We're near DC, where the Pope will be making a stop. I'd like to see him, but not sure if I want to brave the crowds.
Stump grinder man is here working now, and tree guy is gathering up the logs. They should be done today so the landscaper can do his magic Monday.

Philly. He will be here for 2 days. It is also the World Meeting of Families all week. An extra 1-2 million people in the area. They are talking about closing down major thoroughfares (Ben Franklin Bridge, Parkway, Vine Street Expressway). They are not sure and are debating what else will be open or closed. Stops on the rail system will be very limited, pretty much the suburbs and the ones closest to where the Pope will be.
And they are begging people to open their houses so please have a place to stay.
Just overall, it seems like such poor planning on the city's part. If not poor planning, they just don't care about the residents that have to live and work here.
DH is from Phoenixville and graduated from Penn. We're familiar with Philly!
Sounds like it will be a nightmare. Not sure what DC will bring when he makes his stop here. Fortunately I don't take Metro to work and live/work outside of the city. Still, I'd like to see him at the Basilica. I love that church and have attended Mass there many times.

I like it.

Hello I'm getting ready for bed. It was a busy day and now I'm tired. Glad you found someone to lease your house L L, hope the popes visit doesn't cause to much inconvenience for you both (j-bear &fnw)
I've been up and at it for hours. Lawn mowed, laundry under way, grocery list made. Plan on going in a couple of hours to avoid the 1st of the month crowd.
DS is safely in OH, already looked at some townhouses. I think I may be buying one if he can't get a mortgage. It may be tough for him because he already owns property. We will see how it works out.

This is tax free weekend for clothes, computers, and school supplies so I am avoiding stores. We did early grocery shopping to avoid the first of the month shoppers. Going to carpet clean and finish getting everything put up from my trip. Somehow my closet is overflowing with shoes again. Not sure how that happened. Meeting a friend for dinner as she passes through town.
I have the wedding tonight. I really don't want to go but she came up to me and personally asked me if I was coming. I said I didn't know that I was invited. She asked me if I had thought it was a small family thing. I told her yes. She said she considers me family and would be hurt if I didn't come. So now I fee bad and on the spot like I really have to go. I guess I go for the wedding and stay a little bit for the reception and come home. I HAVE to go the store today. I need some Milk of Mag.

I postponed girl time with my friend. The house has been empty since about 9 this morning. I have been enjoying the solitude.

So in July there was evidently a hail storm here. All if my neighbors are getting new roofs. So we talked to the guys that were doing theirs and they came and inspected ours. Filed a claim just a bit ago. I may get a new roof! So now, new kitchen, new ensuite, and new roof. Anybody want to buy a newly remodeled house? Lol!

Today was a pretty decent day. Got some errands done, will finish the rest tomorrow. Did schoolwork for the rest. Had a wonderful dinner, all cooked on the grill, filet mignon, baked potatoes and french onion in foil. The onion is a large sweet onion, cut like a bloomin' onion, with a teaspoon of butter and beef base, sprinkled with montreal steak seasoning and drizzled with olive oil and merlot, all wrapped in heavy duty foil and grilled on a medium grill for about an hour, depending on size.
I feel better about the one class' final project. It's a powerpoint presentation on an organization that we have to create to include volunteers and a "green" or "sustainable" part of the mission. So I am creating a community senior living center similar to a hotel. You buy into a suite that includes a bedroom, sitting area and private bathroom. Each floor has an entertainment area that has seating and televisions. There is a community dining facility as well as an individual kitchen area similar to how home ec classes used to be. There is also an activities center, fitness center, and gardens that supplies some of the produce to the dining facility. The main floor would be rented out for medical offices and a full service salon. In order to keep the costs down and reasonable for the residents, the residents volunteer in various ways to support the community living such as in the garden or running the front desk or whatever. The other green aspect is that it uses solar panel energy to reduce the costly outlay of electricity. Oh, and the building would be converted from a building that used to be either an assisted living center with individual suites or a hotel.

jlbear ~
One of the things that really worked at the Senior Housing where my dear MIL lived was: ever morning, before a specific time (9:00? maybe?) the residents had to go to a board opposite the elevators, and turn over a washer, from red to white. That way, the administration could open the elevator door (16 floors) and see at a glance who had not flipped their washer. They would call that resident on the phone, and if they didnt get an answer, security went up to check on them. Management would change all the washers during the night. Worked very well. You might want to include that in your project.

How about a green roof to keep costs down? They have so many benefits.
