OK, I took my son shopping today at JCPenney's. Some pretty decent sales. When we went to ring it up, one t shirt came up as $30. I said "I thought that was on sale?". She said, oh it is buy 1 get 1 free. So, there was nobody in line so I told my son to walk over to the rack and grab another one. He brought over another one and it range up at $12.99 but was not part of the other rack with the supposed BOGO. So, I just stepped over there to look and the sign simply said $14.99 and nothing about a BOGO. I said "Maam, the sign says $14.99 and not BOGO". So, all of the sudden she turns into a Huffy, Sarcastic Bitch and says " Well, do you think I program the computers, blah, blah" and started going on and on. I was really taken aback. Sheesh. We weren't rude in any way. I just am not going to pay $30 for a shirt that is on sale. For a moment, I was going to call the manager, but I just wanted to get out of there and get my stuff and go so I didn't. What a BEYOTCHE! Do you have any fun customer service tales?
Who ever said the customer is always right, never worked in customer service.

It's the people who come up thinking they are always right, and your stupid and that you have NOTHING else to do that make you "roll your eyes".

And for the record, I've been cussed at, hit, had things thrown me, and had people put all manner of nasty things on the counter. They lie, cheat and steal trying to get something for nothing.
Honestly, after about 10 years, a person learns to distrust just about every single person who steps up to the counter.

About 20 years ago my then SO gave me a $500 gift certificate to a high end clothing store. I found a lovely suit that had these big decorative buttons. One of the buttons was missing so I asked if there was a discount on it. The sales girl acted like I took a shyt on the floor she was so obnoxious I asked for the manager. The manager handed me a box of buttons & told me to look through it & see if I could find the button I needed. She then said if I found it I could take it home & sew it on myself. Talking down her nose at me like I was a vagrant. Still no discount. I totally lost it. I mean seriously, WTF? I demanded that they cash in my gift certificate or I was taking their snotty attitude straight to corporate. The manager did empty the register & give me my money back.
I remember when I worked at Gantos Boutique, I was a cashier - not a salesperson. But this customer came in and because the salesperson in the dress dept. was an "old woman" (probably about 60), she demanded that I be relieved at the cash register and come help her because she only wanted the opinion of a young girl on stylish dresses for her cruise and not an old lady. And then she just kept trying on trashy dresses. I told her that the ugly stuff looked great and that she needed at least 1 dress for every night of the cruise. And the old lady still got the commission b/c I was not coded for commission sales.

Me? do I love my job? why yes I do.
and I so IVY you and the know it all people, there are bad eggs on both sides of the counter I agree. and yet some people just seem like they are always in a bad mood and unhappy. though I do understand it is a difficult position when it can seem nothing you do satisfies anyone. I guess it was just my vent from last night at the grocery store, I could have snatched the little gum smacking twits hair off LOL...luckily her boss overheard the conversation and was speaking to her as I left.
anyway good luck and I wish you nicer people to interact with

Worked in some form of public service for 20 years.
I loved the job. People on the other hand....
But like I said, it's one of those cumulative things. Over time, you just get jaded.

One of my favorites from my toll road days. I had my red light on since my lane was closed. Customer comes through anyway and rudely informs me that I need to turn my light green if I'm open. I told him that if I were open, my light would be green but I'm closed so it's red. Seeing the look of comprehension dawn on his face was quite the sight to behold.
I'm the customer that will tell someone berating the associate to shut up. I can't stand people who are rude to associates.

I have nothing to share...:( I don't remember a bad customer service experience. Ever...
I can't remember a truly bad customer service experience. I've had times where the associate was a bit pissy but it seemed like it was more due to long day than an attitude problem.
I did have an experience at Subway many years ago that still confuses me. They were running a 3 subs for $10 promotion and I figured I'd get that and have dinner that night and work lunches for the next 2 days. One of the subs I wanted wasn't included in the promo but I wanted it anyway (yay for an extra work lunch!) and told the associate I'll get that sub separately and still want the promo so 4 subs total. Associate spent a good 10 minutes telling me the sub wasn't part of the promo. I kept saying I know, it's fine, just charge it separately. At no point did I say anything that implied I wanted it as part of the promo. In hindsight, maybe he just got reamed by a customer that refused to understand that not all subs were part of the promo so he was thinking I'd do the same thing.
