Ugh! Some idiot at the condo was flooding the flower beds. Went to turn off the water. Slipped in the muck. Woke up in the ER with 5 staples going in my head. Ugh! The firemen were going crazy. Threw me in the ambulance.

It is so hot here lately mine have stopped hunting. In the spring & early summer I find a dead thing a day at least. It doesn't make me want to toss but I hate the feel of it in my hand (through the bag) & it gives me the creepy crawlys.

Trudy! Ugh! I slipped going up the stairs Saturday night. Yes, up. Foot slipped, landing on my right thigh, and bump, bump bump down to bottom. Mr. FNW found me sprawled. I barely remember, but I have a huge bruise. And #2 is home sick today with me.

I don't mind Mondays but don't like Sunday nights because I know I have to wake up early the next day.

There is a nurse I used to work with... She is so sweet. She always went above and beyond for patients. But she also picked badly in men. The guy she ended up with is a loser. He doesn't work and he has four kids. She has three. So now she's supporting nine people. The past year her husband has been in and out of the hospital with heart problems. Her son was arrested and put in prison not too long ago. Friday they did open heart surgery on her husband. Yesterday she found out that her son had been brutally raped and beaten in prison. He has a fractured skull and they don't know if he'll pull through. I have no idea how she is handling all this stress.

We used a broom or small rake and a shovel. I don't remember having plastic bags in the 1950's

NJN that is horrible about your friend. She certainly chose a hard life for herself.

#2, unfortunately, inherited my knack for becoming horizontal at the wrong moments. I wonder if there is something like karate that might help him with balance.

I guess it never occurred to me.  I just put the bag on my hand inside out & grab the critter & then tie the bag shut.  Quick & easy but I do feel that thing in my hand for a second.

That's not a very fun way to start your week Trudy. I hope you get better soon.

We've been doing back-to-school shopping. Somehow, in the last 2 1/2 months, DD has outgrown all of her jeans. Luckily there are a lot of sales going on so we got a lot of new things for not very much money. Next, we are off to get her hair cut.

Trudy, Trudy, Trudy, what are we going to do with you?

Hope you recover soon. But, WOW!

FWM, falling UP stairs seems to be one of my traits as well. Ouch!! I hope you heal quickly as well.

NJN, so sorry for your friend.

Momala, hope the fishing was great today.

Sorry for my infrequent visits, but, life happens. Had a house full this weekend again. DH is still recovering from surgery. And, I am about to go nuts.

So, it's time for a glass of wine. Or two...

I'm not big on buying lots of clothes just because school is starting.  However, this year, DD has grown, in more ways than one. hmm  We need to do some serious shopping.

There was this lady on a FB group last week and she was asking for a list of all the places that gave Christmas presents to kids.  She was trying to "get a head start".  Someone flippantly told her that normal people get a head start by starting to buy now and not waiting till Christmas.

LOL! My DD must have a brain. She always buys early for Christmas. Clothes and shoes are a different story.

DD bought Christmas presents during the after Christmas sales last year. Yup, she isn't stupid.

So, two months ago my VSS SIL had her new baby. I didn't go to the sprinkle with the list of stuff she wanted. Afterwards she never called DH or I. She never asked us if we wanted to see the baby. She goes to her dad and mom's house every Sunday. She never asked if we wanted to go out there for dinner. She hasn't called or messaged or emailed. Today I got an invite from her for her other daughter. She's turning four and they're having a birthday party for her. She sent me an invite with a long list of items she was requesting. She signed it with her usual signature. We'd love to see you there. Please come and bring a gift!

I wonder if she'd like a donation to the breast cancer foundation in her name?

DH and I usually wait.  But we can afford to wait.  If you are that hard up you buy as you go along.  You don't wait until December 1st.

I was a bit upset last year.  I normally adopt a family, and I KNOW I'm not supposed to judge, but this woman drove up in a car nicer than mine to pick up her gifts for her children that I bought for a "needy" family.  I think I'll just go back to picking a family on my own and giving anonymously, or just focusing on the domestic violence shelter.

This happened to me so many years in a row I quit giving. Or else they would ask for nicer present than what I was buying for my own kids. Asking for a Wii, iPods, televisions, etc leads me to believe you should buy your own presents. I now do what you do and give directly to families I know are working toward building a better life and not looking for a handout. I know I shouldn't judge, but I am not buying a Wii when my kids didn't have one.

Yes.  She does this to me ALL THE TIME.  The ONLY time she speaks to me is when she wants us to bring a gift or something.  She never speaks to us unless she is getting something out of it.  I know I shouldn't take it out on the kids but I've just stopped attending things.  And it wouldn't even be so bad if she'd just freakin invite us.  But she gives us actual lists and we're supposed to buy off them.  She is the height of tacky.

I try not to judge too but on this page I belong to there are TONS and TONS of women having kids and they can't afford anything.  They're begging for clothes for themselves, for their baby, and asking for baby furniture.  They usually have other kids too.  It's become quite the controversy because they've had to ban selling formula and certain other things that women were getting for free and then reselling.

Blue Monday was a blue sky day! Wonderful weather. Took a nice long nap while DH took MIL to the beach. Lazed in the pool after DH left (he has to work). Walked the boardwalk and had ice cream. Sitting in bed with an adult beverage, vanilla vodka and black cherry soda.
