If I hired a nanny she would be the grandmotherly type.

Is she keeping her clothes on? If she is I have no issues with it. She is definitely not DH's "type".

I don't know. What would be her job?

Do you trust your husband?

Are you secure enough?

I don't understand how one minute we are supposed to be accepting of all women. Difference is good and all. But then we get all insecure when a pretty woman is around.

Here's a shocker for you. If a man is going to cheat, he will cheat no matter what.

A guy can cheat with just about anyone if they want to.

And I "don't cheat" when I'm dieting, (make that "don't intend to") but I also don't keep a plate of yummy brownies sitting on the table where I have to look at them all day, either...

Why buy trouble?  I trust my man but I won't knowingly make life harder for him, either.  Not hiring her.

I know I have a different perspective--but how can women expect to be judged on attributes other than their looks--when they judge other women on that basis?

Well, when men stop shaggy the nanny just b/c she's a pretty young thing - you won't have to worry about that, anymore.

 That's my point.

Now, I also believe in not being naive.  If you see something going on--that's a different story, though it probably says at least as much about your husband as her.

Arnold's Nanny was not hot.  Neither were a lot of the women Tiger slept with while married to Elin.

Also, while I don't believe in setting yourself up for disappointment, either, if your husband is going to cheat, he doesnt have to wait until you hire a hot housekeeper to do so.

Well, if she's going to be a nanny she needs to dress a little more appropriately. That's not exactly nanny dress. Same could be said about a housekeeper. Dress for the part. Other than that I don't see where the problem is.

I dated her in college.

Then she got into drugs, and that was the end.

Get a background check and have her drug tested before hiring her.

Jeans and a top? I guess I don't see how that isn't appropriate. Other than switching to shorts in the summer, it's what a lot of women I know wear most of the time.

Babysitting is different than being a nanny. I was a live-in nanny. And NO, I never even considered diddling the dads. However, I did fill in for one that was fired for doing exactly that. It's a cliche for a reason.

Her midriff is showing and the jeans have holes in them. Yes, I understand that's the "style". Shirts a little low to be bending over with kids and/or cleaning. Also she has a lot of jewelry on to both work with children or clean house. She doesn't have to wear burlap but yeah, a little more appropriate clothes.

ITA!  I'm just saying that if she was a professional and she came looking like a professional then I'd have no issues.  Personally she could run naked through my house and if my husband is engrossed in his online stuff he wouldn't even know she was there.

You don't know what she looked like 15 years prior and probably a lot of pounds less, too.  And Tiger apparently didn't care who he slept with - female was sufficient.

If I am supposed to recognize her, I dont.

Arnold Schwarzenegger had a love child with a house keeper who wasn't exactly pretty.

A cheater just wants something warm and wet. They don't have to be pretty. Haven't you heard? It all looks the same in the dark.

The boys' preschool teacher was adorable. As sweet as she is pretty. Mr. FNW saw her every morning when he dropped the kids off. I wasn't thrilled at first, then I got to know her and liked her. We're FB friends to this day.

I know of too many situations where nannies swooped in on the dads. And dads divorced their wives to be with said nanny. So, no, I would not want a younger, more attractive version of myself living in my home, reminding my husband of what I no longer am. Or reminding me of the youthful looks I no longer possess.

When I babysat, I never talked to dads if I didn't have to. Out of respect for the moms.

This makes me sad.  Really sad.  I just can't imagine being worried my husband would leave me because someone was "more beautiful" than I.  If he did I wouldn't want him around anyway.

I do not understand women who lack so much self confidence, that this would even be a question.

If a man is a cheat, he will cheat with anyone, looks will not matter.

With my first husband, that was me. But i was also told every day how unattractive I was and how much better looking younger women were...I was a shell of the woman I am now.

With G, its not even a thought.  It was at first, with him being on the road so much. But i was still in that shell. He brought me out of that to make me as confident as I am now. Although I ever so often have those flashbacks...I dont know that i will ever be released from the abuse.

Um, no.  It was about a man wrote into Dear someone to say he wanted to bone his SIL who his wife had moved in.  That she was really flirty and he couldn't seem to keep his hands off her.  But he had yet to even discuss this with his wife.

She looks like she could use a good steak. Or two.

And I agree with husker's point about a woman's looks aren't necessarily in play compared to how the man's wife looks, when it comes to a cheating husband, re: Arnold and Tiger and their dalliances.

Exactly.  Plus, again, it's laughable that women want to be seen for more than their looks--but then they turn around and that is EXACTLY how they judge other women.  You can't have it both ways.  If you perpetuate the stereotypes and notions that looks are somehow a barrier in this situation--then you are feeding in to the very societal standard that you purport to be so much against.

That was a different situation.

A.  We have ZERO idea what she even looked like, so the comparison in that respect isn't really apt.

B.  They were talking about MOVING IN, not just being a housekeeper or nanny.  Sure, sometimes nannies are live-in, but...

C.  That woman had already expressed an overt interest in the husband.  So, yeah, he should be able to control himself either way--but so many on here are saying they wouldn't hire this woman, yet they would MOVE IN someone who WANTED to sleep with their husband.  Ridiculous.

It does.

And I believe the consensus was that a man should be able to control himself.

Again. It doesn't matter if it is a playboy bunny or elephant woman, if a man wants to cheat, he will. If he doesnt, he wont.

No. What was said was that men should be able to control themselves if someone other than their partner throws themselves at him. I don't recall a single person saying they thought it was a good idea to keep hussy sister there. I do recall you said that the man wouldn't be able to "control" himself. We also pointed out that we knew many men who had self control even if you didn't think they would have.
