We survived Monday! Happy September all. I know this brings cooler weather for some people. We will welcome temps in the mid 80's now. Farmers almanac is predicting a cold winter.

We will be in the 90's all week, I suspect the cooler temps won't be here for another month. At least at night the temps are much cooler, makes for good sleeping weather.

First day of school here! I am working from home.

I have a cold now. Ugh. And I caught DH in the north 40 trimming branches off a bush. WTF? I've been striving for privacy and he's removing branches? That have green leaves on them? So today we're going to the nursery to buy another bush to put behind the one he trimmed. And this time, he will plant it himself.

don't waste your money, bushes that are trimmed/prune, grow back even bigger by the next season.

We trim ours every year in the early fall. They come back more full the next year.

Mom is having to go to the doctor daily to get her potassium checked. They are trying to figure out why it depletes so quickly.

yes the trimming helps them get strong and fuller.

It is going to be in the upper 90's all week, but nights are in the low 50's

DH is on nights for the next three nights, so I predict I shall be in bed early with my kindle and read some and then lights out. I am exhausted! we seem to run all summer long. Which is very enjoyable, but wears me out LOL

Happy birthday flan's son.

I'm too lazy today to mention anyone else but I read you all and hope your day goes good. Except for the people with nice weather and I hope they all go to hell! It's hot here again. But at least the a/c is working. I ended up going to Sam's yesterday to get out of the heat. I scored big time by finding massive jug of Dreft. It wasn't with the laundry soap but back in the back in the very corner almost into the stockroom next to the formula. I'm thinking about going back for wipes because we wipe Layla down every time she goes out and we go through so many wipes.

I thought Dreft was used on baby clothes?

Happy Tuesday everyone. Only 2.5 more hours to get through the afternoon.

Dreft is only used on baby clothes! But Layla has allergies. We have a king size bed that both her and Carlee sleep on. Every day I make the bed and then put a king size flat sheet over the bed. The next day that flat sheet goes in the hamper and I put another clean one on. It keep dirt and hair off quilt. At the end of the four days I was all the flat sheets in Dreft. Princess Layla has sensitive skin. So the flat sheets are done separately to keep her allergies under control.

Every time I invite SIL to do something with me she tries to bring someone else with her. I invited her for a "girls afternoon in the pool" today. Her boyfriend got off work early so she wants to bring him. I told her no.
Why do s she always do that? Does she not like spending time with me??

I don't even know if she's coming now.

The things we do for our pets!  My mom puts a sheet on her bed too to keep the cat fur off her comforter.  I really should too.  I just sleep in cat fur & wake up with fur in my eyes.

Is she young?  It sounds immature.  You know like back when you wanted to spend every waking moment with your boyfriend.

Wal-Mart.  Flat sheets sold separately are like five bucks a piece.  At first we only had one but the daily washing got to be a drag.  So we went and got more.  It's actually really convenient.  Layla has such bad allergies.  Her hair has all grown back and she is no longer scratching till she bleeds.  We also give her a daily allergy pill.  But we try to keep the allergens down too.  Our vet has us wipe off her tummy and paws when she comes in from outside with a hypoallergenic diaper wipe.  We keep them on the windowsill near the back door.  We go through a lot of them

Have you tried All Free and Clear?  It's cheaper than Dreft and that is what both my FIL and DD11 have to use for their very sensitive skin.

No.  I should buy a bottle and try it though.  It's on sale at Sam's right now.

Another vote for All Free and Clear. It's amazing. Literally the only detergent DD17 can use or else she is scratching like a maniac. I have to stick with any All product (Tide makes me break out) so it was easy for us to switch.

Tide is the worst thing to wash clothes in. It literally eats the material.

Well, they're having a sale on All right now so I think I'm going to go get more. Plus we need more diaper wipes for her feet. They're on sale too.

I haven't used dryer sheets in years. I still have a box, but DH uses them when he golfs to keep bugs away. I do put white vinegar in the rinse cycle dispenser.

Sigh. It's for my princess dog... I know ya'll are probably pm'ing each other and saying "Is she really like that?" My dang dog has grass and pollen allergies. It's nuts. They cut the yard yesterday and she broke out.

NJN I totally get it. I buy $50 bags of cat food from the vet so my cat doesn't get kidney stones. My mom rubs ointment on her elderly cat because her fur fell out & her skin is scaly. We all bend over backwards to make sure they are happy & comfortable.

Well, thanks Lexxy. I feel so dumb. She was so bad at one point it was just incredible. She looked like a racoon because all the hair had fallen out around her eyes. Now she's happy. And I had a timehop on my FB page that said we adopted Carlee one year ago today. Seems like we've had her forever!

Aww don't feel dumb. You would do the same thing for the people in your family & your pets are family.

One year adoption day! Does she get an extra treat?

Funny I had the opposite feeling on Maggie's 3 year adoption day. It felt Like it had been just yesterday I brought her home.

Come to think of it I've been told that Tide is one of the worst detergents for our ecosystem. That it's hard on the washer and hard on the water system.

I've only heard hard on clothes.  My brother was allergic to it so we didn't use it.  My mom does now that we are gone.  When I first got my HE washer Tide was the only brand that was HE.  Now several are & I switched as soon as Gain came out with theirs.

There are only two kinds of detergent I can use that I know of. Tide and All. Both their free and clear versions.

I may be able to use Dreft and Ivory but usually but the large jug of All F&C from Sam's or BJ's.

Everything else makes me break out.

We never buy Tide at all. It's always way more expensive than the other brands. We used to use Gain but the price went up. Then we went to Surf but the price went up. Now we're using All. We get it at Sam's so we buy the most inexpensive name brand. I don't feel the cheap brands work as well. Not in detergent anyway.

Since I live alone a big bottle of laundry detergent lasts me months & months. I maybe buy 3 jugs a year. So Gain costing a little more doesn't really matter. I did draw the line with Mrs. Myers. I love the smell of their lemon verbena. But I stopped using the laundry soap because it was so expensive & the scent didn't last very long.

Well, having a family we go through the stuff like crazy. Plus with the dogs sheets. We over bought last time they had a sale. Right now we have two boxes of laundry powder (one surf and one gain) and two bottles of regular all. I also have two bottles snuggle and two of downy. They're the massive ones. Plus I have thing of dreft and then the massive Dreft I got at Sam's. And a bunch of samples of dreft that we got on the clearance aisle for a quarter.

My mom stocks up when Tide is on sale. My grandmother who was living with her at the time had a fit & told her it would go stale & need to be thrown out before they could use it all.
