Texas teen fatally shoots himself while taking selfie

A 19-year-old Texas man who was posing with a gun for a social media selfie photo accidentally shot himself and died from the wounds, Houston police said on Wednesday.

"A witness told police he was taking a selfie with a gun and the gun accidentally discharged," Houston police spokeswoman Jodi Silva said.

The identity of the man killed in the Tuesday incident in Houston has been withheld pending an investigation by the coroner.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. He had shot himself in the upper body, police said.

I think, if anyone has earned a Darwin Award, this guy did.

Don't do that.

How's that?

I guess I don't know what you are looking for, ed.

First of all, there isn't enough information. He is actually an adult, so we don't know where he got the gun, if it was legal, or anything.

If it's in metropolitan Houston, then it's unlikely he's a hunter who grew up with firearms, but more likely a kid who was messing around with someone else's gun, or a kid who bought one on a whim and was showing off.

Again, don't do that.

Yes. Definitely a candidate for a Darwin Award.

Pretty much what husker said. Don't play with guns. Obviously he was not used to having a gun because the first thing they teach you is guns are not toys. And he's not really a teen. He's an adult.
