Well, its turning out not NOT be a thoughtful Thursday for me.

So, my friend from Canada is coming in tomorrow. She was supposed to get here last night but plans changed on Tuesday.

Problem #1, I have to be at DDs to watch the babies at 6:00 Saturday morning. I don't really want to be worried about a house guest.

Problem #2, she is bringing her dog. Her out of control dog. Literally out of control. He HATES other animals and flips out whenever he's around one and attacks. Yeah, that's gonna be great with my 2 cats.

Problem #3, She assumed that he could stay in the garage. Well, the last of my cabinet delivery came yesterday and he is NOT going to stay in there with my new cabinets. He's extremely destructive and when he does not get his way, he pisses on everything. So that's not happening.

Problem #4, SHE'S BRINGING A FRIEND! A MALE FRIEND! I have never met him. Never even heard of him. She said they could just camp out n the backyard if I was uncomfortable with it.

WTF? Who does this???? I'm pretty much in tears. I have no idea what I am going to do.

You should tell her that with all these unexpected changes, it is just not a good time for you and you'll have to do a visit another time.

Or, if you want, you could suddenly get a really bad case of the flu (depending on how blunt you want to be).

Your choice.

o4, She does not sound like a friend in return. It sounds like she wants a place to crash without paying. I second LL's suggestion of telling her that with the plan changes, it does not work for you at this time.
iknwts, I hope you get your work done and can relax tonight.
FNW, boys to school is a good thing, especially with no more injuries.
Sending SB wake up vibes

Today is a rainy day. Having lunch with a friend. Worked yesterday and today. Supposed to start internship tomorrow.

Hives are sort of under control. On a new med, not the one we are waiting for approval from insurance co. It took the severity down so they are no larger than a half-dollar, most are between a dime and a quarter. They are still itchy and occasionally burning. Still on about 40-50% of body. They are on my face now too so there is no part where they have not been yet. But they are not the size of an orange, they are not burning constantly and they are not bright red/pink. I have been able to ignore the itch for the most part.

One thing that is very important to keep in mind - the friend is the grossly over-reaching rude one here. You don't bring pets and extra people to stay at someone's house when they were not part of the invitation. Period. So, however you react - tent, hotel, kennel - you are not the one in the wrong.

Your house, your rules.

Reserve a hotel room for this threesome, and find a local kennel.

You don't say whether this rude visitor is broke, but if she's bringing a guy,

either HE can afford a hotel and a kennel,

or he's a broke parasite, and you certainly don't want HIM to be able to wander around your house unsupervised.

When they arrive, take them directly to the hotel, don't even let them in the door.

If one of them needs to pee, the other stays outside with the dog.

Protect your house and new cabinets, and protect your cats. Your "friend's" behavior is outrageous.

I agree with Ed.

Is she flying down? Are you picking her up at the airport? If so, drive them to a hotel. If she is driving, you can reach her by cell phone and tell her something suddenly came up and you no longer open your home (or backyard or garage) to her this week. You could say you have had a family emergency, apologize, then don't answer your door.

Personally, I understand that whole "point of no return" thing. Years ago, my in-laws were coming down the weekend after Christmas. On that particular morning they were scheduled to arrive, our basement flooded and ServePro was there drying things out, MIL & SIL had not left and occupied all my guest rooms (so I was not able to change the bed sheets, my car battery died, the boys were 2 and required constant supervision, and DH and my father were outside installing a sump pump to prevent further flooding. DH called and asked they re-schedule their visit but they were an hour out on the road and refused. They showed up, tracking mud through my kitchen, throwing suitcases through the child gates that prevented the boys from falling down the stairs, and complained about the dinner I had prepared because I made the roast beef ahead of time and they felt they were receiving "leftovers."

Were you able to retaliate? Oops, I meant to say "get even"? No, not that either ... "Return the visit" ?

Our office cat was not acting like herself, so co worker took her to the vet and I sent a check, thinking around $50-$60, and just found out it was $350! OMG this is a cat we adopted from the pound and doesn't really belong to any of us specifically, but I usually buy her food and litter. Co worker feels horrid but what was she to do, she wrote check (I am ok with that) and she just had her bathroom flood upstairs and it ruined downstairs too and her car was hit and run, so I know she has no extra $ and I really do not either, but OMG OMG....pondering what and how to juggle....not at all in the budget, but Betty (cat) has meds and a shot and will be better sheesh...I need a beer LOL whoops can't afford one

Vet bills are expensive. We just paid $45 to have all three dogs nails trimmed. When we were leaving there was a lady there and she was trying to get out of her bill. It was $260. She said she could only pay $100 and that she wasn't expecting a high vet bill. My DH got really angry. He said people should not have pets if they can't take care of them.

Yesterday DH and I went to the store to get dog food. We decided to pick up a few things. There was a man there shopping with his three kids. They were all screaming and crying at the top of their lungs. The dad just walked along and in a sing song voice kept saying "You all are bad bad kids..." These kids looked to be in the 3-5 range. NOT an infant. DH said loudly, "If those were my kids I'd be busting their azz." He never did make those kids shut up.

I'm waiting for the principal to call me back. We've been playing g phone tag. I need to get Baby A down for a nap, but I know as soon as I am putting her to sleep the phone will ring lol. On Friday and on Tuesday a boy in DDs class threw a mega fit, hitting, screaming, kicking and throwing stuff. On Friday she was hit with a rock and on Tuesday with a metal pencil box. I tried talking g with her teacher this morning but was directed to the principal.

I'm willing to be the house that this kid is "special needs" and has an ILP.  There is not a damn thing the school can do about him.  He cannot be suspended, must be put into a regular classroom.  Been there, done that.  I had to threaten to press charges...

He was suspended.. But I wonder if the school is pushing to get him tested or get him an aide or something because her teacher told me that talking to the principal would get results faster..sometimes they need other parents to complain to make their case.

Would he then be required to have a aide?  My dil works as a aide by the school here to sit and take care of the special needs child.

That is what I am wondering Lindley, because from what I have been reading is that the teachers are not allowed to restrain kids at all when they get like that, they have to remove all the other kids from the classroom, which is what was done, but that is really hard when there is one teacher to 20+ students, one of whom is being destructive.

She called me back, and said they had a meeting this morning, and that she doesn't think the kids' safety will be an issue going forward. She couldn't talk about another student, which I understand, but she did say she knows it was an issue and that they are actively working on it.

Yes that is one of the rules.  I just do not think this is right.  Not only for the other kids safety but the special needs child too.   I don't know who makes up the rules but it is getting silly.  Why should a child get hit or hurt because you are not allowed to restrain a child who is having a meltdown?

I agree. It's also frustrating that they can't tell me what happened. I know it involves another kid, but it involves my kid too and she is not the best at communicating the problem, what happened, what caused it, etc. It took me a few days to get all the details out of her and a few other kids to fill in the other blanks, and I am sure there is more that they just don't understand enough to tell me about.

#2 had a special needs girl in his class last year. They had an aide in there especially for her. The boys knew her from preschool, and always talked about "Mean Grace." I explained to them her situation and to try to understand, but also be careful.

Not all special needs kids are violent. Sure, some are and those ones need to be dealt with but definitely not all of them.

Totally agree NJN, but unfortunately, they are all lumped into one mold. Its ridiculous that they are all treated the same way. Every child is different. Hell, i treated my kids differently based on their personalities.
