Secretary until i became one. Then paralegal until I became one. Then lawyer. I just wanted to keep moving up and find something better. But I was always interested in the law. I wanted to know what I could get away with.
A veterinarian. Then I took biology. Changed that pretty quick.
That explains a lot.
Haha. Funny. It wasn't that I couldn't do or understand biology. It is that I realized I'd be having to cut into animals and that some would die on me.

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.
But other than that, as a little girl, pastry chef.
Then I became interested in architecture. I wanted to design amazing homes and buildings.
Took two years of drafting in high school.
Then I graduated and went to work and kept saying to myself, I'll work and save one more year.

I did too. I was sad later to find out you had to be Catholic. I'm Baptist. I wanted to be like the flying nun. That was my favorite show when I was a little girl.
I never really wanted to be anything. It was kinda sad. Everyone else was really excited about their choice and I would just pick something so I wasn't left out.

I always knew I wanted kids though.
Being mom is the best.

I wanted to be a psychologist at one point. I thought about being a veterinarian but needed calculus and I can barely do pre-Algebra. I volunteered at my pets' vet's practice over the summer to see if I could hack it and was fine. I cried at every euthanasia but I don't view that as a bad thing. I assisted with a surgery on a turtle - that was interesting. I got a lesson in duck anatomy thanks to a duck coming in with a broken wing that was beyond repair. The only thing that really threw me was "the freezer" - where dead animals were stored until disposal. It was a shock opening it for the first time. Had I been able to do calculus, I probably would've went that route.
I wanted to be a pediatrician, a pharmacist, a lawyer and a Congresswoman. I wanted to help people somehow and I just wasn't sure how I could do it.
I got a job in high school in a store at the mall and I loved it. I loved the merchandising the most and while I was still in clothing, merchandising was my forte. I could take a bunch of nothing and make it look like it was a million bucks.

When I was really little I wanted to be a ballerina. I was in ballet but unfortunately fell way behind in my studies because I had to sit out first when I broke a leg, then when I broke an arm, and then when I broke a collarbone, and then there was that time I had gangrene of the foot. My teacher gently suggested to my mother and me that I might not possibly maybe be cut out for a life of grace and beautiful smooth movements. I wanted toe shoes so badly I cried.
Then I wanted to be a pediatrician. I thought that would be a lot of fun because I loved kids and wanted my own. That stage lasted a long time until my parents told me I was too dumb to go to medical school.
For a short while I thought I'd become a clothing designer. I took a bunch of classes in high school and did really well. I was so proud of the work I turned out. But again, my parents told me I wasn't smart enough for college so I kind of gave all of it up.

After I graduated, I still had NO idea what I wanted to do. I puttered around in retail (Target & Service Merchandise) and found that I had a surprising affinity for working in the cash office: balancing the registers, making the deposit, ordering change, etc.
And...my mother told me that I was wasting my degree...
