Anyone else heard of it? This is the first year I've ever heard of it. Basically you paint a pumpkin teal and put it outside your door to signal people that you offer non food items for allergy ridden kids.
Launched as a national campaign by Food Allergy Research & Education (FARE) in 2014, the Teal Pumpkin Project™ raises awareness of food allergies and promotes inclusion of all trick-or-treaters throughout the Halloween season.
Last year, households from 50 states and 7 countries participated in the Teal Pumpkin Project™. This year, you can be part of an even bigger movement by joining 100,000 households pledging to participate in the Teal Pumpkin Project™! Take the Pledge>

My cousin, who has an extreme allergy to milk, eggs and red dye, was not allowed to go to random houses.
She went to family and friends houses.
Her mom could not take the chance.
Of course this was back in the 80s.
I've seen people mix little toys, pencils and stickers in with the candy.
I like that.

I do this yearly. I always have Halloween toys in addition to candy. Never thought of it as being for kids with allergies but am glad if a kid was able to get something for Halloween that they could have.
