Second grade teacher 'runs over and kills her abusive husband as their two daughters sit in the back of her car'

A second-grade Ohio teacher is charged with running over her 'abusive' husband following an argument while their two daughters watched from inside the car.

The Fairfield County sheriff's office says 42-year-old Daniel Luke was killed on Sunday night at the family's home near Canal Winchester, southeast of Columbus.

His 40-year-old wife, Angela, pleaded not guilty on Tuesday to charges including aggravated vehicular homicide

A report says Daniel Luke was fatally injured during a domestic dispute that carried over into their driveway.

NBC4i reports that the couple's 12-year-old daughter called 911 before Daniel was killed, and told the dispatcher her dad was hurting her mom.

Angela Luke was in the car with their eight and 12-year-old daughters and says her husband was holding onto the car as she tried to drive away.

The Lancaster Eagle Gazette reports that Angela Luke is a second grade teacher at Tussing Elementary in Reynoldsburg and has been employed there for at least 11 years.
David Ball, public relations director for Pickerington Schools, said Angela Luke will be placed on unpaid suspension.

'We’re continuing to investigate it,' said Lt. Tim Voris of the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau.

Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 16.

Unpaid suspension? Before she is proven guilty? I hope she is part of a teacher's union.

It sounds like self defense to me.

Hopefully, she won't be proven guilty. The daughter had called 911 that her dad was hurting her mom. Mom was trying to leave. Dad was the one holding onto the car.

She can't collect on his life insurance while charges are pending.

Do you even know if there was insurance money? I'm sure she was all worried about money while he was beating her in front of her children.

I'm HOPING there is insurance, because she's going to need it.

And I hope they drop the charges immediately.

I read this. It doesn't sound like she really intended to run him over. It sounds more like she was trying to get away and he wasn't letting her and it turned out bad. I'm not really sure she should even be charged. He was at least as much at fault if the very incident of the running over, if not more.

Well, I could agree with you--but then we'd both be wrong.
