So, I just want to say a special thank you to the person that posted a "Happy Birthday, Mom" picture on my Pinterest feed this morning. Because my mom's birthday is in 4 days, and I completely forget.
I'd also like to give a shout out to my new Amazon Prime account, which allowed me to order her a gift without panic and exorbitant 2 day shipping fees.

I just heard that the contract for my previous job was awarded today, to another company. People will be taking up to a 30% pay cut, reduced benefits, higher employee premiums, and that is if their position is still around. I am so glad I got out when I did.

I'm meeting the boys for lunch at school today. Friday is pizza day which #1 loves. But he can't carry the food tray with one hand, so I'm going so he can partake.

He's been excited ever since I told him a couple days ago. Both boys are. I didn't go at all last year, but I went 2 or 3 times when they were in kindergarten. They love it. I really should go more often while they still like me.

Ain't that the truth!

Morning everyone. I am loving the weather right now. My favorite. Chilly nights but up in the 70s during the day. It's the time of year my house gets aired out & my utility bills are at their lowest.
I forgot to get Bunny's library book into his bag this morning. That makes three weeks in a row now.
Poor kid is going to be distraught when he can't pick a new book at school today.
I feel like a terrible mom right now.

Tang, honey, you have to quit taking these little hiccups to such heart. Moms are not perfect. Trust me, you are going to make much bigger mistakes in time, so try not to beat yourself up over such little things. And wait until you have more kids - if you do - you'll forget even more stuff!
Can you take him to the local library tomorrow and get a book there?

Fnw , glad you are getting to have lunch with your little man today. Tang, all parents have that moment of forgetfulness. You are a great mom. I'm feeling a lot better. Yesterday and today I have no nausea and I Pray it won't come back. I'm going to go see my little man and give him lots of hugs and kisses.
I really can't get away from work today, Friday is our busy day. That might be why I keep forgetting. I'm going to set an alarm in my phone for Thursday nights.
Night before Tang. That's what I did with all my kids and with SS when he stayed with us temporarily. Everything was ready the night before.

We had that big meeting yesterday. They are bringing in a behavorial expert(psychologist) to observe Bunny in the classroom and then they will do something based on that person's recommendations.
Also they will be sending him to the resource office when he is having problems.
I guess his first visit will be today, because he will lose his **** when he doesn't get to pick a library book again.
And before anyone jumps on the discipline bandwagon, let me say that when he has an episode he just gets very emotional and cannot be reasoned with. He cries until he has trouble breathing, etc. he doesn't exactly throw a fit, he's just inconsolable.
They neatly sidestepped my questions about what they felt might be the source of Bunny's issues. And even though we've been doing all the same things at home and trying to correct his behavior for years, I just feel like I've failed as a parent.

How old is he?
I only ask because my boys are 7 and in second grade. One of the things they are learning in school is to take responsibility. They don't want parents assuming their responsibilities. Knowing they have to face the consequences, such as not being able to check out new library books, they are more apt to remember themselves. It really seems to be working, too. They have grown leaps and bounds in this area. They tell me when they have homework, and they make sure it's done and in their backpacks to turn in.
I don't want to get out of bed. Not sure why. We have to pick up SS today. I think that's why. I normally enjoy having him but this week the fair has been in town. His mom has taken him every night this week and he has done no homework. His grades have dropped significantly. We were supposed to go the pumpkin patch to pick out pumpkins but I think DH is going to punish him and not let him go. It was supposed to be a huge family trip with everyone including DN and Sparkly. They have pony rides and hay mazes. I just get tired sometimes.
flan, I read half that book yesterday.

You have NOT failed as a parent, Tang.
I hope the psychologist will have some ideas to help the situation.

He's five. Right now we are trying to get him just to remember what we asked him to do thirty seconds ago. Remembering that he needs to take his book on Friday is way beyond his capabilities.
So I need to remember that stuff for him. And I forgot.
I love how Czech includes everyone. I am not that talented or dedicated!

I agree Tang. This happened to us to in Kindergarten, and I had to tell DD that she needed to remember her book if it was important to her. I told her I would try and help too, but it would work better if she could help me out and be in charge of her books.

Do as much as you can the night before. That includes making sure they get what they need in their backpack, getting out clothes, shoes, socks and any other clothing they need.
Have a basket or box by the door you use the most. Put things you have to take with you in the mornings.
In a central place, a calendar is most important. Keep important dates in red. Field trips, events, other school activities are easily remembered that way.

It's been raining here since mid-afternoon. I think we're going to be done with 100 degree temps till next year. Time to pull out the jeans!
I got all the shopping done for our Operation Christmas Child boxes today. Now have to get the boxes packed and back to Church.
DS wanted a hula hoop, which he is VERY proud of. He pitched a fit because I *gasp* tried to help him get one untangled from the mass of hula hoops in the box. I don't know how to hula hoop so it's going to be interesting to see if he figures it out.

I never could hula hoop. I know how it's supposed to work but never could.
I can, however, get the hoop swinging around one ankle and "skip" it. Well, used to. I don't know if I still can with the way my knees are.
Ah, those were the days. I had a skip it back in my day. I could skip that thing! I'd be a laughing stock doing it in my leg braces now!
