I have a no candy sign. But it says "If your child has allergies please ask for a food free treat."

My question is, what's left?

Bunny has been Superman and a pirate, separate years. I thought of those as normal or classic Halloween costumes.
He asked to be a ghost this year, is that offensive as well?

I don't get the objection to those two, frankly.

Okay. The more I think about this, the more irate I get.
First, I must have given candy to at least a dozen Elsas last year. They were all adorable and clearly happy with their costume-dressed as a character that they liked.
Second, no real pirate dresses like that. They dress like normal people, but they do horrible things.
Third, superman is a freaking alien! No one on earth could measure up to him, how is that ableist? Also, again, he is a character that people like.
Fourth, many little girls enjoy dressing as princesses. I don't see how that is wrong.

I don't enjoy sexy costumes on children. That ain't right.

I'm glad folks didn't have such big sticks up their bums when my kids were young, and going out to trick or treat.

If I had seen a sign like that, when Mere was 4, and dressed as "Belle", in a beautiful costume that took me hours to sew!

I'd have told them "to stick their candy where the sun don't shine."

Some folks want to take the fun out of everything!furious

(And, I've never seen a little one dressed as a sexy cop. no)

I love the kids' excitement and I don't care what their costume is. I oo and ahhh over the great ones but every gets candy, as long as the 700 pieces I bought aren't eaten before Halloween.

I have 75 goodie bags ready and I'm freaking stoked. I love handing out candy. Even to the bigger kids. As long as they're not rude and don't push everyone around I don't care if they're 30 and show up on my doorstep. The night is supposed to be for fun. Heck, you could walk up to my door with no costume and ask for candy and I'd give it to you!

But the little ones? OMG! THEY ARE SO FREAKING CUTE! Yeah, those are the ones that make it awesome.

Superman is not a person trying to be a hero.

He was a hero trying to be a person.

His real identity was superman. He hid that by pretending to be human.

Caitlyn is going as a peaco-ck.

Jesse is going as Hades from Hercules.

Aaron is not sure but he is thinking about being his drama teacher.

And really...if anyone was nasty enough to even think about posting such a sign, they should just turn off their lights, and not bother to participate in trick or treat.

I think posting such a mean sign, would make them a target for getting egged. Or toilet papered.

Or worse.no

JMHO.

No kidding, Czech!

I can't imagine anyone being this uptight, in my neck of the woods.

We still get G.I. Joe's, and Disney Princesses, and Cowboys and Indians, and Superman, Spiderman, you name it! (No sexy crapola on the little girls. I've never seen it.)smile

I get a charge out of seeing all the different costumes!smile

If someone is that darn picky, they should not participate.

I hope it's a joke, Lindley.

I'd hate to think anyone could be so mean spirited, on Halloween.cry

I agree with you 100%. Sexy is fine for an adult costume at an adults only party. I would, however, draw the line at sexy adult costume though if the adult was dressing up to take kids trick-or-treating (as some adults do, dress up, I mean).

I don't have a problem with what that sign refers to as "sexist" even. It's a girl dressed as a woman cop (maybe the "dress blues" for women of that fictional police force include skirts, I don't know). What's she going to grow up to be, a man cop? I do think her pose is a little too sexy though. Not sexIST though, sexY. Too sexy.

Quite sure the sign is a sarcastic joke.
