In the mail was a box.  Seems my bf bought the Power Pressure Cooker XL from QVC.  I laughed.  He must have been sucked in!

Anyway.  A Pressure Cooker.  Any recipes?  Thoughts?  I told him I'd ask you all!

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

You can make about anything in them.

But mostly we just used a pressure cooker to can beans and tomatoes and whatever else.

I tried to print 1 recipe? It is still printing. I am wasting paper, ink. Ugh! I am throwing all the pages away. Oops! Found a neat tomato soup recipe.

I've never used a pressure cooker. Was he watching late night TV? I'm pretty sure only insomniacs watch QVC.

I have the Instant Pot electric pressure cooker. Just made chicken stock in it. I use mine to make stocks, risotto, polenta, soups, stews, wings, ribs, braciole, and many more things.

Pot roast is great in a crock pot. DD made me lasagna in a crock pot. It was awesome and none of the noodle edges were hard.

I think there are some recipes in The Joy of Cooking. And there are some on Skinnytaste.com.

Let me know what you think of the cooker. I've been tempted to get one, but they intimidate me. And I'm not a big crockpot person because the flavors tend to get muted, so I would be curious to know if the same thing happens in the cooker.

My microwave steamer finally cracked after 15 years. Fortunately I found an identical one on Amazon and it arrived yesterday.

He wants you all to know that during the day he doesn't like what they sell thus his late nights.

FNW, I'll let you know.  Found a yummy looking soup recipe yesterday.  Update to follow!

I do this all the time, too!  When DH first met me, he thought it was the wierdest thing.  I'll read a cookbook through like a novel.

Now, I'm actually trying to use them, though.

LOL I need to purge more of mine. I have to do it in stages or I get *concerned* and get MORE to replace them LOL.

Now I just like ones that friends suggest because they have used them and love them, or the ones with ingredients I already have on hand or if I buy I will use again...NO more Eye of Newt languishing in my cupboards, thank you very much

If anyone wants to purge their assortment of cookbooks, send them my way! If I don't keep them, I pass them on to the Life Skills class at the local high school.

I couldn't! I adore them all. Bookcases in the livingroom with them! My friend found an old copy of The Joy of Cooking. It is great. He says the newer version is different.

I'm not sure which version mine is. I assume it's the newer version, because she talks about how the invention of the pressure cooker changed the way people cook.

How's the pressure cooker? Do the flavors mute like they do with the crockpot?
