Morning.

Don't over do it, IKWTDS.

I've been sort-of awake for a while myself, Czech. Just enough to make me grumpy.

The boys are snoozing away. Might need to borrow someone's cattle prod to get them moving.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Good morning, IKWTDS, Lily and Trudy!

IKWTDS, hope you make it thru work today and feel better soon.

Lily, I rarely wake up in the middle of the night, but it makes me irritable as well.

Trudy, hope you have a good day!

It's 4:17 here, so I'm the only one up.

I want fish tacos for lunch. I am so thankful that DS1 & his friend are here. Yesterday morning we hit the grocery (a new yuppie one has opened), and the trunk of the car was full of bags. They carried everything in (we used a luggage rack) and helped me put it away.

You may as well figure on kissing the next hour goodbye.

Sorry.

We didn't do much yesterday, but that's okay. We're here.

And it going to take me a minute to adjust to the 85 degree temps.

It's in the high 40's to low 50's here. Colder first thing in the AM. My favorite type of weather, actually.

Working from home today.

I am feeling exceptionally better today. My new shoe inserts are really helping the foot pain. It's gonna be around 80 here today.

We've been having wind and rain storms for the last week. Lots of our northern and coastal areas are flooded and the highways are closed, which has cut off access to some of the more remote areas of our Province. I'm in the city and we're okay, but there have been some blackouts and I think a piece of my neighbours roof was in my yard yesterday.

Oh gosh, have you ever looked at a person and have to flee so as to not laugh at them to their face. There was a guy in the lobby of my office dressed in a camo shirt and matching camo pants, a grey zipper hoodie (unzipped), thick gray sweat socks with brown leather flip flops and then the most gigantic, poofy, 2 foot high brown fur hat I have ever seen. I about DIED.

It is a good day in Canadian politics. The new federal government and new Justice Minister just announced the beginning of their inquiry into the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women. This has been a battle that has been ongoing at all levels of politics and social awareness since before the Pickton trial (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Pickton) which took place here in Vancouver and uncovered the fact that not only are women going missing in our Province (and others) but that they are being murdered with little to no consequence.

Check out the Canadian Politics thread for an update! (and no, sorry. There are no pictures of Putin or Justin. There is a good one of Jody tho).

I have a friend who has been updating a few of us on this issue. It's beyond disgusting and prejudice, IMHO. Long overdue attention to heinous crimes against native women.

I am aware of other horror stories as well. Concerning the children. Makes me sick.

Happy Tuesday

Today is DH's birthday and one of my bosses.

Sort of a windy crazy day, it's almost 50 degrees and yet this silly wind, I think I just saw toto go zipping by~

I finally got all of my Christmas cards addressed yesterday and will mail today. One thing that is funny now, but last night....I had three in a pile by me that are stamped and name and town etc. but no address as people just moved and I was going to get addresses today...and DH decided to *help* me, so he got a plastic grocery bag...and put all the cards in it...ALL the cards....

as I cleaned up I looked for the cards, which were over clear on the other side of the table....umm no cards, DH told me gathered all the cards in the bag, and we are LOOKING at ALOT of cards...Did not want to crush the joy off his face for helping LOL
so today I brought the back to work and went through all of them, think two piles about 6-7 inch tall each...but I found my cards, and some other odd things he gathered off the table in there LOL

now to drag myself to the guest bedroom and LOCK myself in until I have the gifts wrapped.

think I will take DH to supper instead, cause you know right that the bags at Menards are a tuff plastic with no holes, they have handles that can be tied into a bow...and a lovely red and green Christmas tree on front! That might just work
ho ho ho

He was here for a real estate closing.

Since he obviously has the money to make a real estate closing, he doesn't care how he looks.

One of the richest men I ever met, dressed like a hobo. A billionaire in Colorado, he sat on a stool next to me, several times, at his favorite diner. A stranger would never have guessed and that's the way he liked it. I know I didn't guess he was rich. I just thought he was a friendly and lonely old man at the time. My friend and I found out about his wealth shortly before we left Aspen for home. We enjoyed his company several times a week for months and didn't have a clue.

I'm rather glad we didn't know, we had some very interesting visits as we lunched together. I wish he had adopted me. wink

I learned never to judge a book by it's cover.

I know, I'm married to one. A beautiful soul, but wow, he can dress like a dork.

Think "plumber butt" and he doesn't HAVE a butt!!! ROTF

 That was my uncle.

The man owned most of our county, land, businesses, homes and apartments.

He had his own planes and runway.

But he dressed like a beggar.

He never put on airs of any kind.

We went to buy a double stroller for the family we adopted for Christmas. That's what the mom wanted. We got there and we were loading it up and one of the little boys was screaming and crying. He didn't want his stroller to go. The mom said they hadn't used it in forever. I felt bad. Like we were taking his Christmas presents away!

That's sad. We always gave the boys' stuff away when they were asleep or out of the house. Never knew it was gone.

One of them was just playing so nicely. The other was too until we loaded it up! DH and I felt really bad. But the mom was selling it so we weren't doing anything bad!

I so want to read about this.

I desperately need to know why he was in your office.

He was here for a real estate closing.

Since he obviously has the money to make a real estate closing, he doesn't care how he looks.

Gen George Patton Jr used to pull up to Dad's furniture store in his "looks like" a broken down PU truck. This was 25 years ago (Gen Patton's son) He was very wealthy, owned a ton of farm land in an affluent community, refused to sell his land to developers.  He was a great person to talk to.

Now I don't feel so bad!  She had two boys.  One looked older than the other but not by much.  My kids are three years apart but I had a double stroller for them when they were younger.  They are a godsend for parents.  Especially if your kids are really close together.  The mom we adopted has a one year old and two year old.  I asked her if she could have anything in the world what would she want.  She asked for a double stroller.  So we got her a nice used one.  Poor little kid today!

Just got back from a day at Waimea Canyon.

DS1 & his friend are headed for the pool, DH is headed for the hot tub & I'm staying here.

Weather continues to amaze.

I can hike if it's on level ground, but they went on one that had too much climbing for me. I had brought my book & sat outside in the shade & read.

I loved Waimea canyon! Have you ever been to the light house north of the Island? It is also a bird sanctuary. It is beautiful.
