French fashion label Christian Louboutin has cast its first ever plus-size model in a new lipstick campaign.

The luxury footwear brand, which is famous for its red lacquered soles, has chosen model Clementine Desseaux, who is between a size 12 and 14, as the star of the design label's new social media campaign for its line of rouge lipsticks.

The 27-year-old French-born beauty, who is featured in an upcoming documentary about the rise of the plus-size movement,Straight/Curve, told Daily Mail Online that 'such a big French brand using a curvier girl for her face is a big step'.

'The beauty norm is changing and differences that used to be weaknesses are now turning into strengths.' 

Clementine explained that she moved to New York three years ago because of the size of her body left her unable to find modeling work in Paris. 

'Being curvy and freckly was never easy back when I was in France,' she said. 'Now beauty is changing and brands are putting girls that are different in the spotlight. 

'They are opening up to all the beauty that is in the world and not only the European, blond, skinny, white woman type.'

In her video for the campaign, Clementine can be seen smiling and showing off brand's Rouge Mat Velvet lipstick as the wind whips through her hair.

When Christian Louboutin shared the short video with its 6.2 million Instagram followers earlier this week, the brand called Clementine a 'a  natural beauty in #LouboutinCharme'. 

Jenny McQuaile, director of Straight/Curve, told Daily Mail Online that Clementine's campaign for the high-fashion French label is a 'huge step in the fight for inclusivity and representation of women of all shapes and sizes in high fashion.'

'You would never have dreamed of seeing a plus-size model used in a campaign for a French brand like Louboutin a few years ago,' she noted. 

'The tide is turning and it is about time. Louboutin now needs to be recognized for their giant leap and women need to get behind such a big statement and join the body positive movement. 

'We need to push more high fashion brands, and commercial brands, to use curvier women in their campaigns and start representing women of all sizes.'

Clementine praised Christian Louboutin for 'leading the way' by choosing diverse types of beauty to represent the brand.

Meanwhile, Jessica Lewis, Producer of Straight/Curve told Daily Mail Online that 'this is yet another example of high fashion brands testing the water with a plus-size woman.

'We saw Marc Jacobs use Beth Ditto on his runway this year, and now Louboutin. They are gauging reaction from the public and the industry and hopefully a campaign will follow if the reaction is a positive one.' 

Daily Mail Online has contacted Christian Louboutin's press office for comment.

This chick is VERY curvy--but she definitely has curves--and in all the right places. She's not some pear.

I had to bite my tongue from asking her how she managed to not blow away on windy days. She was so tiny she had to buy her own uniforms and get reimbursed. The company that provided our uniforms didn't make her size.

Honestly? The few women I have known that were tiny like that complained profusely about how difficult it was to find clothing.

I have a cousin who wore a size 00. At 38 weeks pregnant she wore a size 3.

No. She wasnt, and never has been anorexic. She's just very thin. Has been her whole life.

She shops in the girls clothing or has things altered.
