A married woman left clinging to life after being stabbed in the chest by a smartly dressed woman during a random attack in Canada has died.

Rosemarie 'Kim' Junor, 28, a healthcare worker who studied at the same university as her attacker according to Facebook, passed away earlier today, police said.

Rohinie Bisesar, 40, a former financier, appeared in court yesterday charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and carrying a concealed weapon.

Rohinie Bisesar, 40, the MBA graduate who allegedly confessed to committing the attack because she 'felt the need to be extreme' has now been charged with second-degree murder

Bisesar had been held in jail on a charge of attempted murder, but that was upgraded earlier today to second-degree murder, CTV News reports.

Junor, who only got married in August, had studied at York Universityi n Toronto, which was the same one where Bisesar got her MBA from the Schulich School of Business.

However, police are still treating the attack as random, and there is currently no indication that the pair knew each other.

The National Post reports that Bisesar confessed to the stabbing in an email sent to their offices from her personal email address minutes before her arrest.

According to the newspaper, she wrote: 'I am sorry about the incidence. I felt the need to be extreme to see if it would work. I would normally not do such a thing.'

While no motive has been given by the police, friends of Bisesar said she had been having mental health problems and was hospitalized last year

Medcan, the company where Junor worker, paid tribute to her today, saying: 'We are shocked and greatly saddened by this senseless tragedy, which took the life of our colleague.

'Our organization is like a big family and we are all grieving today for this loss. Rosemarie was just such a vibrant, happy and glowing person.

'She had so many good friends here, and was such a positive force here, and we are all just devastated. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family.'

A friend of Bisesar who had known her for eight years - Karl Gutowski - confirmed that the email address was authentic but the Post could not confirm that the message came from her.

In the message she also says: 'Do you know any top professionals in artificial intelligence, biotechnology, nanotechnology, satellites? 'Maybe Military. Maybe Government?

'Something has been happening to me and this is not my normal self and I would like to know who and why this is happening. There is either a single person or more responsible and who and why would be nice to know.'

Gutowski described her as 'sweet but odd'. He said that she struggled to get a job after her MBA in 2007 and that she had relied on friends to lend her money and stay in their homes.

He added that her mental health had deteriorated recently and she was hospitalized in 2014. He said that she became detached from family and appeared paranoid.

Speaking to reporters outside the College Park courthouse, Bisesar's attorney, Calvin Barry, said his client 'seems really sad'.

'She's been basically a deer in the headlights because it's all happening so quickly,' he added, according to CTV News.

There is no evidence that Junor, who is 12 years younger than Bisesar, was known to her attacker

The lawyer declined to go into specifics when asked about Bisesar's background, but he did say 'she had quite an impressive resume'.

The woman's attorney also noted that a number of her friends have come forward expressing shock at the allegations against her, which they said were out of character for her.

Barry said she will remain in jail before her next court appearance, which is scheduled for tomorrow.

The apparently random attack took place just before 3pm on Friday inside the Shoppers Drug Mart in Toronto's underground PATH system at 66 Wellington Street West.

On Saturday, police released a screenshot from a surveillance video showing the well-dressed stabbing suspect walking away from the scene of the crime.

The grainy image shows a slender brunette in a lavender button-down shirt, a black blazer and a matching skirt. She was depicted carrying in her hands a red shopping bag.

On Monday, detectives identified the attempted murder suspect as Ms Bisesar, whom they described in the press release as 'violent and dangerous'

Doesn't sound like it. Sounds like a psychotic break.
