Last day of work for me! I will do half a day tomorrow but at home. I have a bunch of online training to do.

And I am ready!

I need to do the wrapping. And make the meatballs. That's it. Tomorrow at 2 we pick up everyone from the airport!!! I can't wait for that. I just wish it would snow a tiny bit so it would look like Christmas.

I'm not into Christmas at all this year.

It needs to be over.

I know the feeling. We used to have fun at work at Christmas, but this year we weren't even allowed to have a luncheon. The first excuse was it was too late, then (traditionally, the Supervisors brought the cooked meats in) they said the Sups didn't have time, so people offered to bring the meats, then it came down from HR, due to the workloads, no holiday luncheon. There has to be something else going on.

Morning.

My house is full.

Brother and his kids got here yesterday and will be here until Christmas afternoon.

I'm waiting on one thing that is supposed to be delivered today.

As for the "Christmas spirit", there does seem to be something missing this year.

Business here has been down. Out president decided to cancel all the Christmas festivities due to financial concerns. It seems the grinch's heart has grown two sizes because we are having an office gathering off site this afternoon - closing early for it even. And we are all getting our grocery store gift cards like years past.

I don't have a lot of Christmas spirit this year either. Because Christmas is a Friday I get rooked out of a day off. We always get the day after off but being a Saturday we are already off. Then I am the only one working next week. I get shortened hours from 11-3 but still working.

They are not giving you Christmas Eve instead?

Our firm annoys me, if New Year's Day falls on a weekend, we don't get the Friday or Monday - it's just too bad.

Nope.  We get to leave at 3 pm Christmas Eve.  My two coworkers monopolize the time off at Christmas break.  It was always because they had kids, now grandkids.  It gets old.   And is probably part of why I'm not terribly excited about the season.

DD is sending her hurling three year old to me.

She has to take two older kids to doctors two hours away, so little one gets to stay with grandma. He does not need to be traveling while sick.

I see lots of cuddling coming up today.

So much for making more cookies today. Why am I not upset about that?

You're a good grandma. I remember one year my in-laws walked in and just as they did, #2 threw up. In-laws turned around and left. Refused to stay.

Wanna know how tired DS was after the festivities yesterday? He slept 2 extra hours this morning. He's now alternating between bouncing around the living room, playing with his new toys, and eating his lunch. I think his favorite gift was the toy microwave he got. He's been microwaving everything since last night. Amazingly, he put away our pots and pans that he had out when he opened his own set. DH and I will be doing another purge. We were going to keep the stuff he hasn't quite outgrown yet but he got so much new stuff that it's going to get purged.

My grandma got me something I wasn't expecting ... One of those adult coloring books. I spent the morning coloring it. G got me a dot-to-dot book for adults so I'll be working on that too.

My parents and uncle loved their photo mugs. I wish Walmart hadn't screwed up and my grandma would've got her mug but grandma loved the frog windchime we got her.

All in all a fun day.

I am so excited about Christmas! Tomorrow I have an appointment for a mani/pedi. I got so much cooking done yesterday thanks to DH helping me. Today I have to put the topping on the cheesecake and work on a few other things. Miss Clairol and I will be having a talk. Can't believe it's almost Christmas!

Never had a job that got more than the day of the holiday off.

Thanksgiving and Christmas were the only days you got off.

The gift I was waiting on finally arrived. Need to wrap it and be done.

Oh my, so sorry, FNW. I didn't bat an eye when asked to keep him.

Kids get sick all the time. DGD had a temp over 101 on Sunday, so we had her too.

Poor little guy is finally asleep. The bucket is beside him of course. He looks so sad, even while asleep. cry

There are 10 of us for the bug to run through, odds are not in our favor.

Eh, it happens. You can just as easily pick up the bug while shopping or eating out.

9 out of 10 times, I don't get the bug, even though this weekend I did catch one. I may have been the culprit this time. wink

Only one more day here. We are closed from noon on Christmas Eve until Monday 1/4. If it stays warm, we may go to the lake house. I don't know what I want that though. Christmas should be cold. Its 70 degrees here and they are calling for tornadoes tonight...:(

Yes, Lexx, vent away.

I'm one of the only people at work that grew up here. The rest are from all over the world.  I was always told that I should let the people that have to go out of town have Christmas off since my family was here and I didn't have to travel...and I get to see them throughout the year.  It sucked.

Then were merged with another company that is off between Christmas Eve and New Years, so we go their perk...

We had forgotten we ordered a book for Christmas for SS. It came today and is now wrapped and under the tree. We only need tennis balls. Other than that we're set. I'm talking with Miss Clairol right now. Tomorrow is my mani/pedi. I haven't had one in over a year. Really looking forward to it. I have to make the topping for the cheesecake today and probably make one other dish. I'm wondering if I can talk DH into helping me make baklava. My cranberry pound cake isn't getting done right now.

About 5 years ago we decided to close between Christmas & New Years.  We had two clients that just whined & cried after the holidays that they desperately needed us & we weren't available.  One of those clients cancelled his policies he was so angry.  So that was the end of that.

Good for you getting the new perk.  Enjoy your time off.

Oh boohoo. I bet those same people are the type that tell the cashier that their employer should close on Christmas yet here they are shopping. Good grief. I say it'd be good enough to check the voicemails once a day and tend to any emergencies. Routine stuff can wait a week.

The thing is they can contact any of our companies directly.  The 800 number is on most correspondence or hay look it up on the internet.  And yes they are calling from home since they have the week off.  But we are a customer service industry & need to keep ours happy.

I found a good recipe.  I really really really want to try it.  I'm running out of fridge space though!  Sigh.  I so wanted to get the cranberry cake done.  We'll see what tomorrow holds.  DH is very helpful.  We both panicked last night.  His ex called us to tell us she would be bringing SS FRIDAY not SATURDAY because she thought Christmas was Saturday.  We looked at each other and said, "Christmas is FRIDAY?"  OH NO!  And immediately started cooking.

Yum baklava! I haven't had it in years.

LOL, yes Christmas is sneaking up fast!  You can always bake your cranberry cake for New Years Day if you don't get it done in time for Christmas.
