I'd love to take a trip hitting up some of the places they showcase.

Anyone else watch it?

I've been to a few in Charleston. You can pull up the show and find places near you.

I've been to most of the places he's showcased around here. Most were very good but there was one that I didn't like so much. It was small and dirty although the food was tasty I couldn't get over the filthy tables.

Heck, there is NOTHING good on Food Channel anymore. I used to watch it all the time. They have a lot of stupid shows on , none of which are really cooking. The actual cooking shows like Pioneer Woman are on during the day.

I love Pioneer Woman. She cooks food I actually like and would serve to my family.

I like Lydia's kitchen on PBS too. And, Martha Stewart when she is making something i would actually make. Most of the time she cooks a lot of stuff that won't fly with my family, lol.

Well, why don't you just really take a close look at the hidden gems around you?  Get on your chamber of commerce website, check local towns, etc.  There are lots of places.

We've been to them. There are a few places that are awesome.

It isn't just the food, it's the adventure.

The Pioneer Woman makes a lot of the stuff I make.

Ina Garden and Giada also do a lot of the cooking I like to do.

And Paula Dean cooks like my grandmothers.

The couple of PW recipes I have made were fantastic. Her details are funny, and helpful.

DS loves to take us to the local hot spots. One was featured on the show. The food was great.

I love the Pioneer woman. I made her Christmas pinwheels for my Christmas Eve party and they were devoured. I also made Barefoot Contessa's roast chicken and I want to make her chicken piccata.

I'm a regular contributor to "Trip Advisor" - I've given some rave reviews, and one or two pans, to the restaurants I've visited lately. I agree that Food Network and Food Channel have completely changed from a couple of years ago. Mostly its chefs from commercial establishments competing against each other, and not necessarily teaching the viewer anything about the food(s) they are preparing.

Alton Brown is great at explaining how and why things work, and Unwrapped gives a great inside look at how much of our food is produced.

 True.

And I think we've found all of them for now.
