Well, I know certain people here don't appreciate me telling stories I see every day but I belong to a local FB group where you can post with questions or stuff. There was a lady who posted asking how to get her husband on food stamps illegally. He was here from Mexico illegally. She was complaining that his boss wouldn't sign off on a paper saying how much he paid him. No kidding. Because he was paying him illegally under the table. And then to make it worse a lady answered her back who said she worked for the Department of Health and Human Services and was trying to help her find a way to work the system illegally.

My exMIL was a "right from the start" worker for DFCS. She knew all the tricks.

I reported her once.

I was told to keep my mouth shut.

In other news, the rain has stopped for the moment.

Our septic tanks are so full. Everything is draining super slow.

More rain in the forecast.

She was playing really stupid. She was saying her husband worked for cash and his boss wouldn't sign a paper saying how much he paid him. People kept asking her why he wouldn't sign it. She said she didn't know that they had tried four times. That's when I said his boss wasn't going to sign the paper because that would leave a paper trail of him hiring illegals and he would get into trouble for that. So the DFCS worker told her to have him file as self employed. I then commented that he would be responsible for paying taxes and since he was here illegally without a SSN that probably wouldn't be a good idea. Then she tried to tell her to have him file a 1099. I said he will have to have a SSN to file a 1099 and besides, all the things suggested here were felonies. Shortly thereafter the post was removed.

Should have taken a pic of the post and sent it to authorities, not that anything would be done about it.

I'm trying to convince my self to get the snow blower going and do the driveway. The snow has already turned to sleet. but there is a few inches of snow out there. Blech.

10% of what they collect. Most likely, they will collect zilch from either the employee or employer.

Wow. I don't know why, but I am in shock. Not necessarily that someone is cheating the system, but they are publicly announcing it and asking for, and receiving, help in doing so. Shameful. I would be interested in knowing the name of this so-called DHHS employee.

Everyone slept in until 8:15 this morning. Truly, a Christmas miracle.

I think they feel safe enough doing so since Texas has a large illegal population so it is somewhat "normal".

Ok driveway done! There was a moment there when I didn't think the snow blower would start, almost cried, then realized the choke wasn't set right. Phew. Had to drag the dog out. He is not happy.

The body ache is still in full swing, but I can eat and drink again. Yesterday, I just wanted to die. DH is still on the couch..

I need to hit the shower. I just took down all the pines and holly from my mantel and cleaned up the needles. I am going to leave up the window candles and village until we return from our mini vaca. I've cleaned enough crap from my garage over the past few months that I think I will store my big rubber maid totes with Christmas stuff in the garage, it will clear out the storage are in the basement. I need to retrieve my car but hate to give back the rental without driving it around town. Is ssoooooo comfy.

I was rear ended a couple of weeks ago. Need to bring it in for the insurance assessment.

No one was hurt. And there was no visible damage to my car. The other car went under mine, crumpled the bumper underneath and my gas tank neck where you fill the car is loose.

It seems like they went to the music company that published it in a book for permission but nobody asked the woman who actually wrote it & holds the copyright. She is deceased & her 70yo daughters don't watch TBBT & apparently just found out about it being used in their merchandising & are now suing. I had no idea it was an actual song. I thought the show writers made it up.

Good thing the tank didn't rupture and the fill neck didn't break loose at the tank. AND that there was no FIRE.

What kind of car was so low that it ran under your back bumper? They're all supposed to be a standard height off the ground.

I woke up to a sunny day this morning! It's gorgeous out today. Feels like spring actually.

If it doesn't turn off cold, we'll have an incredibly green yard in a few days. It'll probably need mowing.

I'm surprised the original publishing company even exists! The book was printed in the 30's.

Yes, a hamster. They are excited, but are a little disappointed they can't play with it yet...it needs to get to know its environment and masters first. Right now it runs from us when we put our hands inside.

well, I have never gone out on a New Years Eve. My dad passed away in 1976 at 39 when I was 15 on New Years Eve. so I stayed home with mom (and eventually my family) until she passed away on January 30, 1997.

When my kids were little we made confetti and snacks and they tossed it around (good gosh WHAT was I thinking LOL) and then we were all in bed by 10 after watching the ball drop, as we are in Wyoming so happens in Time Square earlier LOL

Now, DH and I will just stay home and watch a movie, snacks and a few beers, nothing too wild. the temps are below zero here so too dang cold to venture out at night

Not really too exciting of a night LOL
