The diagnosis is kidney stones and gall stones. We'll be heading to the pharmacy next.

DH. He started having pains last night about 8 or so. He thought he was getting sick from something he ate. He said he had abdominal pain and it wouldn't go away. I could tell he was in a lot of pain. He told me he felt gassy. I gave him something for gas but that made it worse it seemed. We just got a super nice urgent care here in town. It's like a free standing hospital ER. They have everything a regular hospital does. I finally talked him into going. They did a CAT scan on DH. Turns out he has a kidney stone sitting in each kidney and one he's passing right now. Doc said that he may never pass the other two stones or they could pass tomorrow. And he has three gallstones. So he has to go see a urologist and a surgeon. His kidney levels are off the charts. He's pretty high on morphine right now but they sent him three meds home. One for pain, one for nausea, and one to dilate his ureter to help pass the stone. We went to the all night drug store across the street and picked them all up since I knew he'd be in pain when the morphine wore off. Anyway, long story longer we're home, it's four am, my husband is high, I'm starving and eating a leftover ham sandwich, and this was a very remarkable way to spend the first day of our new year.

Oh the poor guy! 1st DH had one the day we moved into our new house - and the car died in the driveway, so I had to call a cab company, and didn't know where to go. They were wonderful - got us to the ER really fast. They loaded him up with morphine too. The ER personnel said the pain is worse than childbirth, so keep those pain killers coming! And to have gallstones on top of that? He's got a rough few days in front of him. I'll keep him (and you) in my prayers for quick relief. HUGS to you both.

Thanks. I honestly was dumbfounded. He's never sick and never in pain. He was pacing the house. He kept insisting he had gas. I tried everything I knew of. I even put him in a bubble bath! Then a hot pad. He just kept getting more and more agitated so finally I put my foot down and told him we were going. We were the ones there so the service was fantastic. But yes, he's home and drugged up now!

The one thing the ER personnel recommended was that he drink lots - L O T S - of water - or cranberry juice (not ****tail).

I went out and got bagels (still warm), had one for breakfast. Now I still have to go to Walmart for gallon bottles of distilled water (88 cents each) and order a new company iPhone.

My bronchitis can't be bacterial, the Azithromycin would have cleared it up. It can't be viral, it's been hanging on too long.

So the last suspect is an allergy.

Any suggestions?

Oh, man, NJN - poor guy. He has all my sympathy. This is going to get ugly, ugly, ugly painful.

I've had kidney stones, once. I'd rather give birth 10 more times without drugs than have kidney stones again.

I'm no expert but I have friends that went through this, it is painful but like giving birth once it passes so does the pain.  I know, not much help.

Yikes! That's awful, NJN. Hope he feels better soon. I have an uncle that regularly goes and has stones blasted. He has a bout with them about twice a year.

Ed, have you gone back to the doctor? Had xrays? I can't believe they didn't give you an inhaler.

As for my bunch, we are taking down the Christmas stuff today.

Monster doesn't want any part of today. He will come out of the bedroom long enough to see what's going on and then he goes right back to bed.

Hope ya'll have a wonderful day.

OH, prayers for Mr. NJN. Yikes!

Ed, try chest percussion and postural drainage? And an antihistamine like claritan or zyrtec. If there's nasal congestion, try afrin.

I had an epiphany on the TV front. I have a checking account that every month I've been putting a set amount into for over two years. The only thing I use that account for is putting gas in my car. The amount is enough to cover my gas needs for the month, plus a little cushion, just in case. I really don't pay attention to the balance on the account, I just know that there is enough for what I need. Well, I checked it today, and I have more than enough for a TV - and to still have a cushion!

I would also like to do a little shameless bragging. I can't belive how much I have saved over the last couple years since I've been back in Ohio. I very clearly remember living paycheck to paycheck before (and the times the pay checks didn't quite meet) And now I'm going to buy a rather expensive TV, in cash, without worrying what I need to give up.

*end shameless bragging :)

Have you guys seen the penny a day savings program? Day one you put 1 Penny in the jar, day two you put 2 pennies in the jar, day three you put 3 pennies in the jar, ect ect ect until on the last day of the year you will put $3.60 (365 pennies) in the jar. At the end of the year you're supposed to have over $600. My cousin and I are going to give that a try this year. Sounds like a way to save some money without really feeling it

I am conscious for a few minutes. I feel like I was hit with a truck. DH is in constant pain. When he's in pain I'm awake. I keep pumping him full of pain killers. He's not having nausea anymore but I think that's because the pain is less due to the pain meds. They gave him Zofran and I still have a couple of those from when I sprained my ankle. So even though we didn't get it filled we have some if he needs it. We only got up because SS's mom came and got him. I think we're probably going to try to get more sleep. We finally were able to lay down about five am but he's up and down in pain. Then I have to make sure he doesn't take TOO MUCH stuff. He's taking two pain pills and alternating with Motrin per doctor. But if I don't watch him he'll take it all at once. Sigh. This is how we'll be until he passes it. He was supposed to go out target shooting with Sparkly today so now they're both kind of bummed.

He hasn't passed it yet. He has a strainer he has to pee in to catch it. They say once he passes it they will examine it and see why it formed and how to avoid it. I guess there's different types and reasons. He says it's a constant pain. Fortunately, we got our new insurance cards the day before so we had them but according to the pharmacy the whole system was down. DH just has to call them to make sure our account is activated so we don't get stuck with a bill we can't pay. Then blessed sleep.

Thanks. He's never sick. I'm always the one sick. Once he passes the stone they say he'll be out of pain. Luckily it was a small stone. They told us anything under 3 mm they let them come out on their own. 5 mm and larger they laser them to break them up because they're just too big to come out on their own. They monitor the ones in between 3-5. All his are under 3. Ugh. So tired. Later all.

Actually it's not laser, it's shock wave lithotripsy.  I used to sell the machine and the ureteral stents that go in for the procedure.

No incisions, not really a big deal, unless you don't have insurance.

People have told me that peeing into the strainer can be very messy. An alternative is, pee into a urinal, and then pour the pee through the strainer.

Do yourself a favor.  Open a Best Buy charge.  When you buy things you have a often times get no interest financing for 6 months and/or points toward other purchases.  Then use the cash you have to pay off the charge.

I even purged some more items.  The storage in the basement was cleaned out enough to be able to put some more stuff in there such as my steam cleaner which was just sitting out in the finished part of the basement.  I plan on putting all the big totes with decor in them in the garage but have to reorg the garage first. I've been slowly purging things there too but now it needs serious reorganization.

Do yourself a favor.  Open a Best Buy charge.  When you buy things you have a often times get no interest financing for 6 months and/or points toward other purchases.  Then use the cash you have to pay off the charge.

I did that with my laptop. I've got a couple more months before I get that paid off. Truly, I could pay it now, but what's the point?

The point is, if you miss or are late with a payment they sock you with a huge interested charge and penalties. (Most of those deals have this in the fine print.)

One tree down.

DD helped me put the village away and all the rest of the in door decor.

I need to go through a ton of stuff up in the attic.

I told you it wasn't bacterial. It usually isn't.

The acute stage passes in about two weeks, give or take, but the nagging, pursuant cough can last much longer.

I suggest you treat it symptomatically. Codeine can help you sleep at night, as it's a very effective cough suppressant.
