I'm not sure what else they should have done--especially if they were in Iranian waters.

Sure, the American military COULD have come in and wiped out the Iranians--but not immediately. Not until, very likely, those particular soldiers or sailors were already killed.

Plus, again, if they were in Iranian waters, which it sounds like we were, then we were in the wrong. Escalation at that point would have been a mistake.

Sure, why not? We are writing them a billion dollar check. But, they got their Propaganda humiliation photos and simultaneously violated the Geneva Convention. But, we can't hinder Obama's fantasy of them as allies now can we?
