I'm so happy today. I gave up American made candy and today I discovered one of my favorite candies - Stork chocolate reisens - are actually made in Germany. If I could have happy danced in the car on the way home as I ate them, I would have.
What little things have tickled you lately?

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.
How grown up my son is becoming. He helps out so much around the house and protests loudly if you don't let him. He soldiered through his 2 year old shot and blood work without crying. He knows what goes in laundry bags and puts those items in the bag. He even understands how to distribute the clothes in the washer so it doesn't get unbalanced. It's just so much fun watching him learn and grow.
I had a dinner party tonight that went really well AND my husband and brother cleaned up everything after. Sometimes men can really be appreciative and I can appreciate that. I think I'll cook for them again!

The storm door handle broke last weekend. Tonight, Jesse replaced it.
He also got his actual driver's license in the mail today.
And he is making plans with and initiating outing with friends.
Seems like normal stuff to everyone else.
But just 6 years ago, he wouldn't make eye contact.

One of the girls on DD's team walked up to me tonight and asked for a hug. She had a bad day and needed a mom. I gladly gave her a big hug and asked her if everything was ok. She said "it is now. Thanks". Boarding school life isn't always fun, but it's always interesting. Tonight it was worth it.

After my son's tournament they had lost a tough game and were coming out in the hall after the game. So i gave my son a hug. The one of the other boys put his arms out like "what about me"? So i wound up giving the whole team a hug. . lol
Watching my boys make their First Reconciliation. I watched from a distance. Both seemed to have a lot to say. Then afterwards they walked up to me, I started to hug them, and they said, "wait, mommy, I have a prayer to say." So I gave them their space. I'll be over there <pointing across the church> when you are through. It was a proud moment for me, and bittersweet, as I reflected on their independence.
When you talk on the phone with your adult child about preparing tax returns coming up for him and he says "mom I have to learn to do them my self, you've been doing them for 20 years for me." It may not mean that much to you folks, but I have taught him about fiscal responsibility, investing, planning for the future, etc. And he took the bait! So happy for him. One more to go!

Sitting here listening to my kids talk, laugh and cut up together.

we're near san antonio and because of all the bases/hospitals there, we have a large population of retired veterans living near/around us--always make it a point to take their hand ( man or woman ) and thank them for their service--was standing in a local store, in the deli, and near the end of the counter stood a nam veteran looking a bit tired and worn out--walked over and took his hand and thanked him--he saw right through me, of course, and replied " thank you for your's as well "--walked back to the other end and while was getting my order saw a young boy, maybe ten or eleven, walk up to the nam guy and take the veteran's hand and thank the man himself--the nam guy was touched deep and was beaming as he walked away--was a great moment--sometimes a small gesture, a little respect can make a big difference
