Good morning, flan!

And all the sleepy Geeks!

We were hoping to go to the Stock Show Parade, but it doesn't look like the weather is going to be very good.

If the sun doesn't come out, I don't want to stand in the cold.

Oh well, I'm sure we'll find something else to do.

Have a great day, everyone!smile

I have banking to do this morning for me and for the org I am Financial director of. It's crappy rainy weather today so I think I will spend most of the day doing laundry and tidying up. DD has two bday parties this w/e so we have to get gifts. Luckily iTune gift cards are all the rage. easy peasy.

DH and I are driving two hours, each way, for really good, broasted chicken. Broasting is a high-pressure cooking method that is supposed to make chicken moist and juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside, i.e., not unlike plain fried chicken, but not as greasy, either.

And to loan my brother some money. He cannot rub two nickels together and come out with a penny. In return for the loan, we are using a very sentimental family heirloom item as collateral since he has nothing else of any value. Is it bad that I want him to default on the loan?

And I had to make the decision to put my classes on hold until the February session starts. I just felt too overwhelmed. It should be calmed down and better in three weeks.

No that is not bad.  If he is not good with money, he will end up selling it anyway but to strangers.  At least this way, it stays in the family.

I have the house all to myself. Parents made it to my sisters last night. Corgi is off somewhere exploring, he doesn't get to come upstairs much. I am going to take a long hot shower and then head into town to do some errands. I might go to work for an hour or so, depends how I feel. Then tonight, my friend might come over so we can eat Chinese food and gossip the night away over some wine :)

Your plans for the day sound like fun, DG!smile

I made waffles for my crew.

Now I'm making the last of them to freeze.

Then, I might make some scrambled eggs with cheese for myself.

I'm getting hungry.

I just started a load of laundry. Came out to put my shoes on and heard a big bang from the laundry room. I'm thinking oh $hit, what happened, and why did it have to happen when I'm home alone?! I go to investigate and....

We just ordered new Hunter Douglas roman blinds for the kitchen and doors. The kitchen will have up/down capability. The amount that is costing is beyond silly.

Yep pricey, but if you like them enough you will never have to replace them.

Laundry all day today. Making some beef stew for the fam and placing bets on whether it lasts the weekend. We will probably head out tonight with some of DH's staff, they are fun people. Hopefully I find ways to stay warm. It's about 2 degrees out now and the high for tomorrow is projected to be -9 with a low of -18.

Laundry today. Went to get my nails done, stopped at the grocery store and then went to my son's to drop off some clothes I bought for my grandson. Now sipping coffee and watching pioneer woman.

She's a rescue dog. She's a bit on the thin side but DN will fatten her up in no time. And she's getting over a case of the mange. She actually looks really good. She's due for a set of shots and a microchip but other than that she's all up to date.

Once it gets to the single digits, any colder just feels the same. It just shortens the amount of time you can stay outside. It's also the main reason I made DH get me heated seats. I need a warm tush.

Aksel is doing a bit better outside now. He has gotten more used to it. He also put on a bit of weight to insulate himself. He was lean and all muscle before. Now he has a bit of chub on him.

The boys made their "First Reconciliation" today. Otherwise known as first confession, at least as I knew it. It's sure changed since I did it. Heck, I don't think I've been to confession in almost 40 years. Maybe it's time.

That was such a fun one for me. It was so sweet seeing how serious the kids were and how humble they were. It was adorable. I hope you left feeling hope for the future like I did.

I did. I even thought about going up myself. But I wouldn't know where to begin, and figured we'd be there awhile, and the kids wanted the cookies that were waiting in the hall.

For the most part yes.  Hemi is dying to get a hold of her but she's tiny compared to him.  I don't think he'll hurt her but he definitely wants to figure out who she is.  Carlee doesn't care about her one bit as long as you pet her too.  Layla likes her but and gets along with her but is territorial.  None of them are mean to her though.

DN will feed her and get her nice and fat.

My dad requested vegetable soup. So I hit the store and am chopping away. Usually I use canned tomatoes and tomato sauce. But I'm trying to make it healthier for him, so I'm attempting to make my own tomato sauce. Hope it doesn't suck!

Store-bought sauce always has a lot of salt in it, so you're doing the right thing. I'm sure it will be good.

Yes it does! And also added sugar which is bad too! I am sure he will love it.

That's the hope. Making my own chicken stock too. Which I usually do anyways, because it just tastes better

My process got slowed down a little. I use who chickens when I make stock, so I can have the meat too. I like to wrap the chicken in cheesecloth before putting it in the pot. It makes it much easier this way. However, I could not find cheesecloth at Walmart today. I found flour sack cloth. Which a quick google told me I could use for my purpose. Problem is, cheesecloth is sold in a sealed package, these flour sack cloths were not. So they are in the washer right now, and I'm behind my totally made-up, unnecessary schedule.

Oh, and my friend is on her way over! So excited!

I wasn't blown away...same old fight scenes & CGI. I liked the new characters, and it was great to see Han & Leia again.

I just got back from the local "ethnic" fruit and vegetable store.

I met the cutest couple from Ghana. They were buying food that was familiar to them, like yams and cassava root. However, they were trying to puzzle out some other produce.

She picked up a bunch of dill. "Oh, smells so good! What is? So good! I can put in cake?"

"I wouldn't. That's dill. Do you like fish?"

"Yes, very much."

"Cook it with fish."

Meanwhile, he's squinting at a bag of "baby" carrots.

"Very nice. Is like magic. How they grow these?'

"They don't. They're shaved down regular carrots. Don't waste your money."

They were adorable and thanked me profusely.

Good evening all!

DGD and I spent the day sewing. She needs the practice and she did make a cute top for her doll. I got 5 sets of three strips put together. Bummed that I didn't get more done.

It's cold out there. Expecting to be -25 windchill tonight. MM will have it much worse. Brrr!

Hunkered down with chili and vegetable soup, cookies and hot chocolate. I'm not sticking my nose outside for anyone tonight.

Sounds like you all had a good day. :)

Home. Dinner was scrounged up. Chicken for lunch was awesome. You know it is good when we drive over 100 miles one way for it. We were at the restaurant for almost 4 hours. Yes, we left a good tip. No, there was not a wait for the table.

Now, it is nap time. Yes it is 9:00 on a Saturday night. Nap time. Too early for bed. I'll get about an hour or so then we will watch a movie and have a drink or three. I become a night owl for DH on Saturday nights.

That's the best part, IKWTDS. Bonding time. We also played a game of Life and a card game called Trash. I love having her over to stay. She's to the age where doing things together is so very important. Soon, she will be off with friends instead of over to grandma's. They grow up so fast.

Don't be so sure about that.

Between 12 and 19, I was at my mawmaw's so often, I had my own room and key.
