I feel like I am so far out of what is going on in the world....
A psych project; sounds like a good idea but I would never have guessed or imagined such a thing.....

I wonder how much virtual toys and clothes cost?  LOL  I told her the baby was ugly.

karl, who knows.  I had to carry around an egg for the week without breaking it.  Maybe this is the new egg project?

We had a Baby Think It Over doll and it was extra credit. I had fun with that project. My baby never cried (even after a battery change) but I had a newborn cousin at the time so I was well-aware that babies cried. One woman at the video store felt the need to give me a sanctimonious lecture on why I shouldn't have had a baby so early in life.

Pretty much, yea. Those of us who participated had a little black key attached to our wrists with one of those wristbands you have to cut to remove. If you wanted to go out sans baby, you had to cut the wristband off (which you lost points for doing) and provide proof that you paid your babysitter. There was a recorder inside the baby that recorded how long he/she cried and if he/she got hit/shaken. At the end of the project, we had to do a report in front of the class.

I think my project lasted for a week but can't remember. That was way back in 10th grade.

They didn't have those high tech babies when I was in high school. The chicken had just been born and given birth to the eggs we used. Yes, I am THAT old.   biggrin

Those RealBaby dolls cost an arm and a ......placenta.

I doubt they'll be used in schools.

That was probably the case if they even were around in my day.

You would have SO much virtual fun!

It's truly amazing how many things my tiny human can find to completely meltdown over. If they really want to discourage teen pregnancy, they need to use toddlers not babies. See how many teens swear off parenting for awhile after dealing with a 2 year old for a week.

LOL I told her that name was ugly and so was the baby so her parenting card was revoked.  She told me "How can you be hating on your virtual grand baby?  Your grandma card is revoked!"  Then DH asked her why she named her kid after a nipple (areola).  She told him his grandpa card was revoked.  Then she told her b/f to come look at the baby and he said he was too busy playing video games so she revoked his father card.  Fun times!

It was fun.  She's grown up so much.  I enjoy her.

I did that two years ago in my psych class. It is more about the parenting choices you make thru the age of 18. The first few weeks are in the infant/toddler stage and how your choices help shape the child's personality and psyche throughout. Like if you are a helicopter parent or a very laid back parent.

It was a fun project but only a little realistic. It does show some interesting concepts to parenting but the reality of being a parent is much different (as most of us know). Since my professor knew that I had already raised a child to adulthood, she gave me a little leeway in the way I answered some of the questions and wrote the reports.

We never did anything like that. Parenting was something that was done when you were older, after you finished school.  Yes, I'm THAT old! lol
