Warming this afternoon, 13 degrees now.

Snow starting in the early afternoon will change to rain. Good afternoon to stay inside.

It's supposed to be in the 20s today with some snow this afternoon.

Today is my first day back to my regular job.

No school here, it's a holiday. And there are a couple inches of snow which is still trickling down and is expected to turn to ice by evening, then to rain by tomorrow morning,

Oh yes. I am back to my desk, in the other building. no more training the temp in the other department. Things can get back to some semblance of normal. It was actually light out when I took corgi out this morning. That hasnt happened in nearly a month.

It is currently about 20 degrees and starting to snow. Temps will be going up making the snow turn into sleet then rain. Tomorrow is supposed to be in the 40s.

Yesterday did not go at all as planned. We were supposed to have a lazy day with me doing a little school work. MIL called very upset for mostly superficial reasons. Her car would not start, her heater was not working as high as she wanted (she even called the heater service) and generally upset. I know it is because she is alone and it was Valentine's day. So we were going to be spending Vday with MIL with her spending the night, so romantic. Then DH's cousin's wife called asking if I wanted to go to a play with her since her husband won't go with her. Then we went over to their house for dinner after the show (MIL is Aunt to the cousin). So a day of lazy turned into plenty.

Now, we are getting ready to take MIL home before the weather turns too slippery. Then I really need to do schoolwork.

Teacher in service day here. Bunny and I are watching Word Girl. He has an appointment to get his haircut later. We might go to the playground. It's supposed to get up to 70 today.
I'm sorry for all you geeks suffering through cold and snow, but I wish it was a bit colder here. Summer is going to awful this year.

Yep. 70 here. I wish it would get a bit colder. Tired of using the ac. My sinuses are miserable. Carlee has her two week follow up at the vet today.

Yes how is Carlee?

She's doing much better.  She's so much perkier!  She's put on a lot of weight though and she was already overweight.  I know that's a side effect of the meds.  So now she's gone from rotund to full on circular.  Last night she peed and poop'ed in our master bath.  Ugh.  She used to have a bladder of steel.  That has definitely changed.  But no seizures.  Before the meds though she had one about every three weeks until The Event.  Hopefully she'll continue to be seizure free.  She loves to ride in the car so she's easy to take in.  She even likes the vet.  Layla hates the car and hates the vet.

She has started playing with the other dogs now. She used to always tussle with them and when she came home she didn't. Now she's starting to show signs of playing and interacting with them. When DN brought her puppy over Saturday she was all over Ava playing and tossing a ball to her. And poor Ava is wearing the cone of shame so the ball kept getting stuck in the cone. It was funny. Carlee does this thing where she will paw you to get your attention. And she will keep doing it till you pay attention to her. We keep her nails cut as short as possible but those suckers are painful no matter what. She will paw my arm and leave marks. I always used to say I wished she wouldn't do that. Then, after the seizures, she didn't. And it made me so sad. But she's back to pawing me again! It's really funny the things we take for granted sometimes.

My son is still experiencing pain when he takes anything more than shallow breaths.
Thing is, there are NO other symptoms.
No fever, no tightness, no cough, no flu or cold symptoms, no back pain, no left arm pain, nothing.
He has tachycardia, but he's always had that, just like me.
It's for this reason I think it may be muscular.
He doesn't want to go for chest x-rays, but if it continues, I'll insist.
Our ERs and clinics are plumb full to bursting with morons who didn't think they needed a flu shot.
Now they're sick.

My grandmother dealt with that for almost a month.

After talking her into going to the doctor, xray showed she had broken a rib.

Little old ladies can break a rib just getting a hug or coughing too hard.

Young men?  Not so much.

You said he injured himself moving something.

And she was 60 when it happened.

Ribs break easier than you think.

And if he is taking certain meds, they can deplete calcium.

It was just a thought.

Welts,  a friend of mine was operating a post-hole digger, lots of heavy push-down-with-arms-and-chest-muscles-then-impact, and suddenly had pain with breathing.  She thought it was a heart attack but it was a strained chest muscle.  Has he been doing anything unusual lately?

Then there's me - I'm highly likely to experience pleurisy and after several trips to the ER over the years for 'experiencing pain when I take anything more than shallow breaths', I've come to recognize it and just take an anti-inflammatory.  Do you think pleurisy could be a possibility?  Just some random suggestions, I certainly hope he feels better soon.  Please keep us updated.

60? Well yes, after menopause, your bones get much more fragile. Estrogen protects bone health. When you body stops producing estrogen, your bones can become really brittle.

I doubt he broke a rib. The thing he moved was kind of heavy and and awkward, but he didn't suffer a blow to the chest.

That's how young men break ribs.

He's not on any meds.

Because there are no other symptoms, I'm going with muscular, too.

I listened to his chest, There are no rales or crackling or wheezing.

That being said, chest pain shouldn't be takebn lightly. I'll insist he goes to the clinic if it doesn't improve.

ohfour, I hope you feel better soon. Heal quickly.

welts, I hope your son gets better. Make sure you insist on him getting checked if he doesn't get better.

Carlee is home from the vet. They had to take a lot of blood so they went in a neck vein instead of her leg. They had to shave some fur off her neck too. She was so good. She held so still while they put the needle in her neck. All her blood work came back great. He said he wants to leave her on the Phenobarbital for three more months and then discuss other meds with less side effects. He also said that the pheno can cause some confusion so that may be why she has accidents and sometimes seems lost.

Sushi the Destroyer is great at the vet. He makes friends with all the other critters and tries to help the receptionists with their filing by jumping on the desk and moving all the papers around.
Last time he took possession of the dog scale, and wouldn't any dogs use it.
"Mine!"

GETTING him to the vet is a different story. You need an ambulance on standby to do skin grafts and stitches.
He's NOT going in that box without a fight.

She did really well. Layla is the anxious one. We got Layla more allergy meds and some more Prednisone now that spring will be here. They don't keep the Phenobarbitol at the vet's. We have to get that at the regular pharmacy.

That's funny!  Layla just looks at the car and starts vomiting.  She gets so car sick.  And she doesn't trust anyone at the vet either.  So it's always a challenge.  Then she sheds because she's nervous.  Taking HER to the vet is a two person job.

Carlee and Hemi?  Easy peasy.

I'm having a moment. I had one of those afternoons where I felt like I couldn't do anything right. I spent three weeks stuck in a different department, so now I'm trying to get caught up on my real job. I forgot to schedule a meeting during those 3 weeks, so I schedule it today. Then I get an email from my boss telling me to "never schedule a meeting without checking with me first" would the man make up his mind! One week it's take care of it and leave me alone, the next it's don't do anything without checking with me. So frustrating. It's times like this I wish I got to come home to someone who would hug me and tell me everything is going to be fine.

Self pitying rant over
