Actually it was Miss Manners. You guys have been my one and only board for the most part. I've looked at other ones before but I always end back here.

Geek Table. Not long after Jim disappeared I guess. I liked that it was a Conservative board. I checked out a few others after that but it was mostly whiny babies or hard azz beotches on the other boards.

MSN Lifestyle Dating Heaven & Hell. I found an article on MSN homepage & after clicking on it I was tumbled into the message boards. I never knew anything like message boards existed. I lurked for a long time & then one particular thread caught my interest so I decided to chime in. Some guy took offense to my very first post & jumped on me with both feet. I argued my point but he was brutal. I might have slunk away & never posted again but Trudy told him to back off & befriended me. So she was my very first boardie friend.

It was a great board. Lots of diversity and everyone acted like an adult. Very, very little moderation.

I was an active senior member of that board for 5-7 years.

I can't remember a single board fight.

I met some super interesting people.

Still in contact with a few.

Me too! I remember that! Then his gf that he made from the board? They invited me to their wedding! I did not attend.

Actually it wasn't him. I got along fairly well with him. It was something like Atavicus or something. He wasn't around much after that. I don't know if he was a regular prior to that.

I remember Prometheus going after FNW & threatening to run her down though.

I figured most of us had started out on the MSN Boards.

I never posted there. It was during a very bleak period of my life, where all I could manage was to go to work & come back home. I was merely an observer there. Without going into specifics, I remember being almost in awe of some of the posters (no one here). I could NOT have been more wrong.

I did read the Mental Health Boards & there was a poster who suffered from severe bi-polar disorder. She wrote the most heart-wrenching essays.

My "first time" was on a local "bulletin board" that I connected with via a 2400 baud modem, way back in the stone age. That was nothing like it is now. Young kids that have never been on a DOS based text only BBS on a computer with a monitor with green text have no idea how great the modern version is!
