i recently started using henna on my hair. I hadn't dyed my hair in more than ten years and the last time I dyed it it was fire engine red.
I Have used the henna three times now and I think I really like it. It smells funky and you have to leave it on your hair for five hours, and then your hair will be orange for about four days.
That sounds awful, but the result is amazing. I have a really nice red tint to my hair now, with my grays looking like red highlights. And my hair is incredibly shiny. People have been asking me how I got my hair to look like this.
I do have a question. How often do you(people who use hair dye) have to apply to cover your roots?
I'm finding that I have about 2 cm of roots after just a couple of weeks. Annoying.
Another question. What is the best way you have found to return to one's natural color? Just in case I get sick of dyeing.
I stopped dying my hair years ago, but when I did dye it, I had to do the roots every two weeks or it looked funky. I used a home rinse for the roots. I don't remember the brand.

Faith isn't something that keeps bad things from happening. Faith is what helps us get through bad things when they do happen.
I have never done it myself, but toy with the idea. I'm just scared.
I have it done every 5 weeks. Should do it every 4, but it's expensive.
Someone once told me that once you start, there's no going back. I suspect she's right. My hair is so grey now I'd look like Jamie Curtis if I stopped.

Well, henna should just fade away after time. I hate roots, I have that problem. I just saw a new product by L'oreal I want to try that you spray on to cover gray.

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.
This is the first time I have dyed my hair in years. Not sure if I like it.
When I was younger, I used Feria. My hair was so long and thick I had to use 2 boxes.
It lasted about 6 weeks.
And I washed my hair daily.
But my roots were not as viable because of how much hair I had.
The color it is now, I can't see roots yet.
But as short as it is now, going back to natural will only take a hair cut or two.

I use Clarol Natural Instincts. It is semi-permanent & washes out so. I don't have a lot of grey so I don't get roots. But the greys make it look very dull. The color makes them look my like highlights. I color every couple of months when I decide my hair looks dull again.
If I didn't wash my hair, I had Rosanna Danna hair.
But I'd wash and condition it and run a detangler through it and I let it air dry and I had ringlets curls.

I was so excited this past year when I finally found the color I love. I always just picked a similar color or tried something new. Now I know the exact name and color number and I buy the same one every time. Which means it will be discontinued soon.

Same here LL. I pick it up when ever I see it in a store. It's like I'm hoarding them under my sink.

Well, that's a given! LOL
Can you stock up now?
flan
I do usually buy a couple at a time, but they do have expiration dates. Since its chemicals, I usually don't risk the expired ones.

I normally use Clairol nice n easy, or Revlon colorsilk. One time, they didnt have my color in either, so I picked up Nutrisse where the color on the box was the same color on the other boxes I have always gotten. The results were disastrous. I was a brunette and hated it. Hubby came home and basically said the same thing. Hated it. I am back to my regular color now, but it took me stripping ALL color out and putting the right color back on. What a horrible mess.
You look better as a red head but you don't look bad as a brunette. Plus that color does have some red highlights. I bet given time you would have gotten used to it. I do know what you mean though. I was at Target & they didn't have my regular brand so I picked another that the color looked close & I ended up with purplish undertones.
I do my own all the time. I usually use Garnier. It doesn't stink as much as some of the others. I basically just color it myself to get rid of the gray and use a dark brown closest to my natural color. No one can usually tell that I have done it and my roots don't show because it's my natural color - and most of my gray is underneath.
