The naysayers were saying Cruz wouldn't pull it off.
Bernie is surprising people.

Kasich is still in fourth place in a three man race. Poor guy. He can't see the forest for the trees.

So what does this mean? Cruz of course is playing it up as though he is the front runner. Same with Bernie. I don't see it changing a thing.
I think it means it's clearly a two man race. I think the race was Trump's to lose. He went so far off the rails with all the nonsense and tweets that people moved over to Cruz. Much of the establishment is behind Cruz. And, it is going to come down to a contested convention. I think Cruz has a greater chance to walk away with the nomination than Trump. I would be happy with either candidate. I wish Trump would have stuck to the issues of trade and jobs and illegal immigration. But, instead he got bogged down in personal jabs. We want to hear how you are going to fix the problems of America. Stop talking about stupid petty crap that doesn't matter. I am kind of 50/50 at this point. Not sure if i will vote for Cruz or Trump. I will be happy with either. I like Cruz's idea of a flat tax and abolishing the IRS. However, i do think Donald will address border security.
If Hillary wins, it's a win for the Establishment. So, they can go ahead and nominate Ryan or Kasich, the voters will go apeschit, they will weather the storm, Hillary will win, and then nothing will change for them whatsoever.
Or, they will go ahead and put forth Trump or Cruz, then actively do everything they can to sabatoge them to ensure that Hillary wins.

I could be wrong, but I believe the Wisconsin win for Cruz means Clinton will win the General.
Had Trump taken Wisconsin it would have been harder to seal the deal and allow the Party to nominate Cruz over Trump once Trump fails to get the necessary delegates (which is likely, even though he will have more than any other candidate of the Party). If Cruz is made the Republican candidate over the likely win by Trump, a lot of Trump supporters will either just stay home or switch sides and vote for Clinton.
The only way for this to even possibly result in a Republican victory in the General Election is for Cruz to actually beat Trump in number of delegates, and I don't think that's even possible at this point. At least then Trump Republicans could be swayed by the "Well, your guy lost, now it's time to support the Party" line, even if they detest Cruz.

I think the Trump supporters will back Cruz. They like Hillary even less.
I do agree that Trump has broader appeal than Cruz. However, Hillary is intensely disliked. And, the Bernie voters are pretty passionate for Bernie. They might just decide to not show up on election day as well. It's has been a crazy election cycle! So much so that it actually has restored my hope in this country that we aren't just going to be lambs led to the slaughter by our all omniscient leaders. And, that the voters are not going to fall in line to march to their drum. This is a GOOD thing.
I saw an interesting interview a couple of weeks ago where a GOP leader wanted to remind everyone that these primaries are really for naught. The GOP gets to put forth a candidate to represent THEIR party, the people don't really get to choose. The primaries are just to help inform them of public opinion, but the opinion is just that.

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

Kinda of true. Delegates by rule maybe bound to a candidate on the first vote but there were elected by the party in that state and may not have any loyalty to the canidate. It will also be a subset of the delegates that will vote on the rules just before the convention. I do not see the rule giving the nomination to someone that received +50% of the delegates the nomination changing but maybe Rule 40 will be done away with.
If a party has certain core beliefs and feels a candidate does not share them should they nominate him. Shouldn't the candidate run independent instead of basically using the party as an easier way onto the ballot.
