In either September 2017 or 2018.

$0.58 is the beginning of the savings for the trip.

You ever save change for a trip?

Yep. Got a giant bank. We usually trade it in and use it for the gas money.

All of our change gets saved, mostly for vacations but sometimes other stuff.

One year we were very dedicated to saving change for vacation. We saved over $1,000 in about 11 months.  We did not have a lot of discretionary money back then.

On average now, I cash in about every three months and come up with about $250-300.  We don't use as much cash these days.

When I was 8ish the family saved for a Disney trip. Each of the kids put in a percentage of our allowance each week for a year. Our parents paid the rest. I'm not sure how much the 5 kids put in, but we were so proud that we helped. We stayed at the Contemporary that year.

We always save our change for trips.

Last time we went to disney, we saved enough to pay for our gas, food for ten days, souvenirs and still had a couple hundred left over when we got home.

We all empty the change from our pockets at the end of each day into a big jar.

How fun! We are thinking we will go back to Disney in 2018 too!

We have a change jar, but neither of us uses much cash, so I don't think we could save that much.

I so want to take my grandkids to Disney world... I want my grandgirls to be princess for a day and whatever they do for little boys for my grandson. The stink is my SIL'S family has been talking of taking them to Disneyworld :(... So we are taking them to Disneyland instead and also to Knotts Berry Farm. That would be in a couple of years though.

The only time I went to Disney World we stayed at the Contemporary resort. I grew up a few miles from Disney Land, so I went there a lot.

I need to cash in our loose change. I usually use it for the Easter eggs, but there's so much.

My parents used to surprise us with Disneyland. My dad would get discounted tickets through the bank. Parents would tell us in the afternoon. We would go at night, when it was much cooler, less crowded, and we were fresh to watch the fireworks and electrical parade. It was easy though, as we were only 20 minutes from the park.

We tend to go to Disneyworld, it's close enough to drive. But I really want to go to Disneyland, so that might be the next trip.

I think DisneyWorld is better, IMO. But probably because I grew up with Disneyland, and it was no big deal. Fun, but the first time I visited DisneyWorld, I was amazed.

The last time we went, my kids would look for change every where.

If they found a penny in a parking lot, in the jar it went.

My sister use to get tickets  from her bank too. That was when Disney  closed at 7 to the public  and it was only open to a corporation  in the evening.  It was so nice just to be able to walk on any rides. They did that for other organizations  too. Only during fall and winter though. I don't  know if they still  do that. This was in the late 70's  and early  80s.

I liked Disneyland  a little  better. I think because  I remember  how magical  it was to me as a child.

My father was a banker so he got Crocker Bank employee discounts. Other times they'd hold "Crocker Bank night" and that was even better...probably what you are talking about. I don't know if they still do that with employers. I know Hershey does a "Ewing Oil" day on the Saturday before the park opens to the public. The weather was great and the tulips were in bloom so it was beautiful. I used to get tickets through friends who were customers of Ewing Oil. It was great. Half price. Park was only open to customers and friends/family, so there were no lines. They still do it, I just haven't been in years.

How funny!  B of A was Crocker's competitor.  Crocker is now Wells, I think.  Anyway, it was a great time to go.  Fun times!  Disney was relatively new back then so they did these things to promote visitors and good will, I suspect.

Parliament Hill. Our version of Your Capitol Building, I guess.

The round building is the Parliament Library.

Yes, you can't swing a cat without hitting a "castle". Castles everywhere.

It IS pretty, isn't it? The other building is the Chateau Fairmont.
If you live in Ottawa, you can take a boat to work.

We're absolutely stupid with "castles". We get a lot of tourists who come just for the architecture.

Could your hubby hold down the fort while you go to Spain?
My dad didn't travel, but my mom loved it. She'd save up to go to far away places, like Greece and Italy.
Maybe you could come visit me for a few days? We'd have a blast!

It's a gorgeous city. We could hit the festivals and all the ethnic restaurants.

For an immediate danger 5% savings on your Disney trip, stay on the Disney property and pay for the hotel with Disney gift cards purchased at Sam's or Costco.

Staying at one of the on site resorts is the BEST way to save money, time, and aggravation.

You park your car and you don't use it the whole time you are there. That alone saves gas.

You don't have to deal with the throngs of people in parking lots.

And all the perks are priceless.

Mom has a Disney CC we used last time. That got use discounts.

Don't know if I want one. But I may use it to book the trip and then give her the cash.

We reserved our room onlin, used the credit card to purchase our gift cards at Sam's to pay for the hotel, tickets and dining plan.   It was a win-win to get the credit card points and the gift card discounts too.

I like having the gift cards in the park. We didn't keep a lot of cash on us in the parks.

The room key also worked as a CC.

That was handy.
