You'd have thought it was the dead of winter here during the night. Someone turned the heat up and it seemed to run all night.
Back to school for the boys. Next break, Summer. Just 6 weeks and 3 days away.
Hope everyone has a great day.

Thanks to Emancipation Day, the chronically late will have extra time to file their federal taxes before the new deadline on April 18.
Normally the deadline to file taxes would land on April 15, but government workers in the District of Columbia, where the Internal Revenue Service’s headquarters are located, will have the day off because of Emancipation Day.
In 2005, April 16 was dedicated as Emancipation Day to celebrate the District of Columbia Compensated Emancipation Act’s signature into law on April 16, 1862.
The Act simultaneously freed 3,100 slaves, reimbursed slave owners and gave newly-freed slaves money to emigrate out of the District.
The District of Columbia was the only part of the United States that paid slave owners for freeing their slaves at the time. This happened eight months before the Emancipation Proclamation freed slaves in the South.
During the early years of the Civil War, many blacks fled the South for D.C. and with pressure mounting for President Abraham Lincoln to come up with a solution, he paid them to leave the capitol.
With the recognition of April 16 as Emancipation Day in 2005, it was also written that if Emancipation Day fell on a weekend then it would be observed on the nearest weekday. Since the nearest weekday in 2016 is Friday, April 15, the deadline for tax returns was moved. Tax Day cannot fall on a weekend, so it was moved to April 18.
Emancipation Day is celebrated in Texas on June 19, known as Juneteenth. It is celebrated in Florida on May 20; Mississippi celebrates it on May 8.
With Tax Day coming up, celebrate Emancipation Day instead — and the nation’s three-day emancipation from the burden of taxes.

This is interesting. Thanks for posting it. I had no idea that Juneteenth was only in Texas.

I'll be honest - I giggled a little at a holiday called Juneteenth.

I should make some iced tea and bring it in. I sound so picky when it comes to beverages, I can't drink diet soda (or anything with fake sugars in it). I like iced tea, but not sweet tea - it's too sweet, and not unsweetened tea - it needs some sugar, and most of the fruit teas have the fake stuff. So when I'm out, my options are regular soda, plain water, or juice.
I don't think taking a caffeine supplement is a good idea. Probably not supposed to mix that with my Ritalin. Rainy Monday's are just are hard thing to deal with without a boost. At least it's almost lunchtime

LOL. It seems iced tea is your only option unless you like hot tea. Maybe some of the flavored teas? Or hot about mix lemonade and iced tea?
Or - learn to like coffee. Start with the flavored sweet stuff and gradually move to less sweet and more coffee. I didn't start drinking coffee until law school.

I personally like unsweet tea but my ex thought it was too bitter. We found the perfect ratio of tea to sugar that would take the bitter edge off but not make it sweet. I used a 2 gallon pot & add about 1/2 to 3/4 cup sugar. I don't remember the amount of tea bags but whatever the box suggests. Now I'm back to drinking it plain.

That sounds about right. I used to make iced tea all the time. Just got out of the habit of it. And picked up my soda habit again.

I just make it by the glass for myself since I'm only home on weekends. I use a mug & fill it halfway with warm tap water. Add two tea bags & let it sit. Then fill with cold water from the door & dump it over ice. You could do it that way & just make simple syrup to sweeten to taste.
I liked it. I finished up yesterday. It will move along quickly once you get into it. It will start adding silo 18 & silo 17 soon but earlier inhabitants than Juliette & her people. Shift actually spans over 100 years. I did hit a slow spot a little after the halfway point.
I'm not drinking soda anymore, either. You can actually buy caffeine in pill form as a supplement.
LOL!! Yeah, you can.
White crosses back in the day.
Or yellow jackets. Those are awesome.

It's cold and rainy here. I would rather be snuggled in bed. But instead, I'm at work, trying to function without caffeine
Oh Honey, get thee to a coffee shop.
I don't like coffee. My source so caffeine is soda, but I'm trying to cut back
Try eating an apple.
It will mimic the effects of caffeine and it gets you a fruit and some fiber.

I had to report an incident at work. Someone will probably be fired. I'm crushed.
I can't tell if you're being serious or sarcastic, SB.
Sorry.
flan
Sadly I'm serious. Trying not to cry at work. Don't want anyone to lose their job. I had to report error to protect the patient. More than one person is at fault but I know which one will be in trouble.
Although doing away with soda but ampping up caffeine doesn't sound like a good trade.
Do you like hot chocolate?
That could be a good, morning drink alternative.

I know there were some co-workers that you were having issues with, so I wasn't sure.
You said it yourself: You HAD to protect the patient. It's understandable that you're upset. You have a good heart.

Oh boo, SB. I'm so sorry. I had to do an incident report last week as well. Luckily it was a near-miss. I caught the substance the patient was allergic to after it was administered but before the patient ingested it. It was the second time that it had happened. I'm not even the medical provider. The charge nurse on duty was so afraid she would get fired if I reported it that she gave me a direct order not to file the report, so I emailed her superiors to "ask them to clarify" the purpose of reporting such an incident. They made the Charge Nurse do the report on her next shift, but I don't think she got disciplined. Sigh. Hopefully if I keep pointing out her mistakes they'll eventually catch on.

You are a nurse. Your job is to protect the patient, not co-workers that mess up. It's unfortunate, but not so much as letting mistakes happen that could affect a patient's life. You did the right thing, but I'm sorry, I know it hurts.

I stopped drinking soda. Recently Coke has snuck back in. Only in the AM.
I drink soda all day.
No, not continuously, but it's my first choice.
I've been cutting back again too.
Smaller cups, limiting to one per meal.
A 12 ounce cup, half full of ice, is about 9 ounces of soda.
I use to use 20 ounce cups.
But I will not completely give my cokes up.
I've given up everything else, but leave my cokes alone.
