Prius, Audi, Lexus and Tesla have them.

Good idea or bad?

Unless and until they run on rails like the ones at Disneyland, bad idea.

If the woman who clobbered me had had collision avoidance, she wouldn't have been able to run the red light.

A self-driving car has to be better than a car being driven by someone who isn't seeing what's in front of her.

DS predicted this technology since he was 20. Of course, that included some sort of new road design with a sensor in the pavement. The car company technology has proven that theory wrong. Kudos to them.

I don't even like cruise control, so it's a huge NO for me.

So, if an accident occurs, the car manufacturer is responsible instead of the driver?

And so did the Jetsons and about every sci fi movie I have ever seen.

I don't like cruise control, either.

Heck, I don't even like automatic transmission.

I like to be in charge, when I'm driving.smile

I like cruise control when going through Benton Tennessee.

They are super strict on speeders there.

There is no "cushion" couple mph.

I hate driving through Benton.

 Exactly!

I think cruise control, especially on a long trip, puts a barrier between the driver and a potentially dangerous piece of machinery. I realize lots of people use it safely. I'd rather adjust my speed to the road conditions.

(But don't try to take my automatic transmission away...)

Sounds like Lindale, Ohio. This village had 1000 feet of Interstate 71 between two sections of Cleveland.

Lindale gets 100% of its' revenue from people exceeding the 50 mph speed limit. Tickets are pricey, and are given for 50.1 mph and up.

One cop, one police car, tickets all day every day. BIG tickets.

I think it's a wonderful idea, if they can get it to work as reliably as it does in futuristic movies. Until then, I prefer a human with hands on the wheel.
