There have been mornings when I've been sorely tempted to try that. Neither DH nor I slept well last night. He has a longer day than me, however.

Morning.

Have fun IKWTDS.

I'm tired, too.

Caitlyn came in my room last night and we talked till very late. I won't even pretend I don't like that.

School starts 15 earlier this week and next. Because of testing.

But it's just freshman lit. that needs the extra time.

The whole school is testing. Something benchmark test.

Then they have end of year tests and end of course tests.

They will be testing the last 3 days of school.

It's ridiculous.

Oh well. One more year and it's done.

Ya'll have a great day.

I have fond memories of take your daughter to work day. My parents still owned their business, so I went with dad a couple times. And one year, my Girl Scout troop got to do a day at the hospital. Our leader worked there and set it all up. We were all assigned to different departments. It was really neat.

It's Take your Child to Work Day here. And it's tomorrow. Lots of activities are planned. The boys are scheduled for a "Hands on Science" event, an interactive 3D Operation Lunch Line event, and "Good Bug/Bad Bug", where they'll learn about bacteria and will be tested on how well they wash their hands. I'll take them to lunch in between events. Should be a fun day for them.

Good morning!

Sounds like a great day for you and your DD, IKWTDS. Love it!

FNW, wow, your work offers a lot for the kids. Have fun tomorrow!

Rained all night here and is still raining. A good day for quilting I think.

Question for y'all. What do you use to hang things from the ceiling with the least amount of damage? What I want to hang is just under 2 pounds?

I ordered some command strips for the ceiling, but they won't hold that much weight.  I hate to put holes in my pretty ceiling.....

There are command strips that hold up to 8 and 12 pounds. Not sure how well they would work on a ceiling though

We were at the office all the time, not just bring your kid to work day. And dad always put us to work, filing, stuffing envelopes, answer the phone, all kinds of things. We didn't get paid though, we were cheap labor - pizza for dinner and we worked our tails off lol

I went and looked at a bunch at lunchtime.  None of them will work with a wire hanging from them.

Last year I took them to the neuroscience building where they made rat brains with plaster of paris, held real brains from rats, lambs, eyes from chimps, etc.  They put beer goggles on them and had them walk the line and another pair of vision altering glasses while shooting nerf guns, etc.  Then we went to another building and learned about the grants process.  I thought that was going to be a little boring, but they made it fun and interesting by dressing the kids up and doing role modeling, etc., then had the match the cards up to the process.  #1 was a scientist with really big clown glasses.

Yeah, TYCTWD is a big thing at our agency.

This 'why' stage is going to the be the death of me. Not really. But it is annoying. And, yes, I'm sure I'll miss it some day in the distant future. But hey, my little man is learning and that's an awesome thing.

I never worked at a place that did BYKTWD. I did, however, work in schools so sometimes I'd bring the ex's daughter with me when she was at our place and he and I would both be working.

My kid is 32.

That being said, I did bring him to work one day when the sitter was running late. She was supposed to pick him up from work.

He was sitting at the nursing station, colouring quietly, when Clifford, one of our patients wandered out, wearing only an undershirt.

He had hydroceled testicles the size of basketballs. My son started screaming and told me he's never coming back.

I turn it around and say "Why do you think?" Makes them think about things and it's interesting to hear their reasoning.

so one great lesson DD learned today was when Mom says to be serious when I have to take a video of her explaining what I do for work AND not to make faces when I need a pic for her security badge to not screw around. She was thoroughly embarrasses with her security badge that had to be worn prominently and then her video of her lame explanation of what I do that was show in front of all the other kids! Just found the pic she ripped off her security badge in the trash. Hee Hee
