This seems to be an important factor in politics and life of course. Let's face it. Hillary isn't likeable. Dems can pretend all they want but she isn't. And, if you look at Presidential candidates, people tend to want someone they Like. Obama has the cool college professor vibe. Bill was the naughty boy. W had some cowboy swag. Reagan was a fun grandpa. So, what makes a person or candidate likeable? What makes someone you meet likeable?

I have seen so many ads lately, painting Hillary as some kind, gentle peacemaker. I laugh out loud.
As obnoxious as Trump can be, he does have sense of humor and charisma.
Bernie appeals to the birkenstock-wearing hippy baby boomers, and the younger generation of wannabes. Lyin' Ted and his sidekick appeal to corporate America who aren't interested in preserving boundaries or culture.
I guess I would describe likeability as a sort of "Je ne sais quoi"...lacking description, but you know it when you see it.

If by "charisma," you mean he makes me want to punch him in his orange face, then I agree.
I would love to hear Bernie speak. He is the only one I could actually see going out to lunch with. I think he would be easy to talk to.
I don't have to like a person to vote for them. I have to like their platform.
As for any average person, trust is the biggest thing.

Not so sure I give a hoot about a political person being likeable. Rather have some one with smarts and ability to govern.... Too much worry about likeable and not likeable these days...
I like to surround myself with people who lift me up and don't feel the need to correct or criticize me.
I like to surround myself with friends who are honest.

Well, i don't necessarily always want to be with the Choir all the time, lol. On the other hand, people use the "I am just being honest" as a justification to say things that are none of their dang business or hurtful.

Everyone makes spelling mistakes. It's not a reflection on your self worth.
You are correct. The spelling issue is not a reflection on Gaga at all. And apparently honesty only matters unless you are lying about you sexual orientation when applying for a job at a church.

Old thread humor, love it!

Do you see a theme?
Faith isn't something that keeps bad things from happening. Faith is what helps us get through bad things when they do happen.
Which one will make America more dependant on big government? Which one will do more to take away basic freedoms and rights all under the "good for you" banner?
That's the one who will win.
I've had a really bad feeling about this election from the jump.

The past two elections and the one coming up are leading me to believe something I once heard "Democracy cannot long stand, because the people will vote themselves into oblivion".
Likeability. Hmm. I agree with what FNW said: "I guess I would describe likeability as a sort of "Je ne sais quoi"...lacking description, but you know it when you see it."
Or as Justice Potter Stewart said about pornography: "I'll know it when I see it"
It's that instant "something" that's not really describable.
Trump vs Hillary...I'm feeling sorry for America right now. ;)
Yup. We deserve better.

We don't "deserve" anything. The world is run by those who show up. They showed up. If you aren't happy with that, then run yourself or work harder to get behind someone else.

Likeability may not be easily defined, but I can say, that I am unimpressed with a man who fails to extend a hand to a woman (or another man) when he falls down. I can't understand why Carly is still standing by Ted except she is desperate to become VP, and Ted is her only chance.

I didnt' actually see what happened. However, i suppose if he did help her then he would have been accused of being a sexist pig. I mean you are wrong no matter what Maybe he didn't see her or she indicated she was fine, I don't know. As i said i didn't see it.
She stepped back to allow room for his family to come on stage. When she stepped back, she fell straight down and disappeared. Cruz's wife put out her hand to help her back up. Cruz looked at Carly and just kept shaking hands. Trump said even he would have helped her back up.
I wonder if it's a cultural thing with Cruz. I say this because I was married to an Hispanic. That machismo prevented him from helping women, treating women like second class. It was a trait he inherited from all the males in his family.

I think you are projecting and reading a lot into this.
I just watched it. He didn't even see her fall. If he didn't see it, how is supposed to "do something"? Accusing people of malice when they didn't know or weren't aware or whatever is just juvenile. Have you ever not seen someone then been accused of being a snob or something? Or you didn't see or notice something then you are accused of being insensitive or whatever? Come on. geez.
OK. This seems like much ado about nothing. You are choosing to cast aspersions on his character based on nothing in my opinion. I can't see HER. I dont' know what she is doing. Obviously, there wasn't an injury or anything whatsoever.
