I've met a few contrary people. I generally just avoid them. I like things to flow smoothly.

LOL, actually everyone I know IRL is either a practicing or lapsed Christian. We generally speaking don't discuss religion. My one friend is actually active in her church & I'll give her donations for her kids missions or help with the charity boxes when she asks.
I have 2 people in my family that have a negative first reaction to everything. You could hand them a million dollars and they would be upset about the taxes. But then an hour or so later they would be thrilled. They just need to process things more slowly and surprises are not welcome.

I also manage one person at work like this. She will immediately give me 3 reasons why something won't work. It's just her way of working through the bugs before we roll something out. In 3-4 days she becomes the biggest champion of whatever it is. She just needs time to work through it. Once I learned that, and acknowledged it with her, she became a much better leader and a more valuable contributor.
