hi all, I have posted some but am not a full time poster as I am just to busy. I have a sincere question? Why is it ok to continuously tell me I am too skinny and to just eat something? I was at work today and had two women saI'd something about my weight. I am 5"1' and weigh 109 lbs. that is perfectly normal. Why is some one saying **** to me? Apparently my legs and ass are too small???? wTF? I feel like people are thin shaming me. It is so stupid. I am what I am. Has anyone else experienced this?
No I'm not kidding. Apparently im not big enough to be a "real" woman. *******s...
You can never control what people think unfortunately.
I have a couple of guy friends on Facebook who periodically post memes or whatever about what a real woman is or isn't and it makes me feel a little bad about myself but whatever

It's funny, 25 years ago when Kate moss was ideal I would be to. Ideals change as much as the fashions. Men and people are fickle. I just don't want the comments about what is wrong with me because I don't have a Kim Kardisian ass.
My best friend ever lives in Seattle. He is a nurse in a major hospital up there. There was just something that felt familiar about you but I guess not.
It's not OK for them to say that to you. It may be an awkward attempt to strike up conversation. Or, they are just sincerely jealous of your physique which is a compliment albeit in a wrongheaded approach. Or, they are just idiots who blurt out stupid crap.
If it persists, I think you should just say Point Blank, that you really don't appreciate those types of comments about your body. That should make a red flag go off in their brains that they are crossing a line. If it doesn't, repeat that again and again. You can be pleasant about it initially. If it then persists, i would finally say that again, and tell them that you have asked them multiple times and now it is making your uncomfortable. Again, that should make a red flag go off in their dull brains. If not, then you may want to take it up with HR.
Most people really don't mean to be rude, stupid, or whatever. So, I don't think you need to assume the worst at this point. As i said, people just blurt out stupid crap. So, go ahead and speak up and see how it goes.

I agree that people who say stuff like that may not mean to be rude. But they are being very rude and you don't have to put up with it. No one should comment on someone's body like that.

There's nothing wrong with skinny people. There's nothing wrong with fat people. There's nothing wrong with average people. The problem doesn't lie in people's weight, the problem lies in the cold hearts of those that would shame them for their weight, whatever that weight may be.
My dad used to say I needed to eat more and I hated it. I finally asked my doctor about my weight and she said point blank, "You are thin, but you are not unhealthy or in any way underweight. Tell your father your doctor is fine with your weight." I did, and it shut him up. If ever someone tells you to eat a burger or that you are too thin, tell them to stop projecting their jealousy onto you, and that according to your doctor, your weight is fine.

This. It happens to me, too. My weight is none of your (collective 'your') business, nor are my (very healthy, thanks for asking) eating habits.

And this!!
Well here is the kicker.
Its about being healthy, skinny or fat doesn't matter. However overweight people do tend to have a lot of issues associated with being overweight like:
Heart disease and stroke.
High blood pressure.
Diabetes.
Some cancers.
Gallbladder disease and gallstones.
Osteoarthritis.
Gout.
Breathing problems, such as sleep apnea (when a person stops breathing for short episodes during sleep) and asthma.
While Health care is somewhat socialized in Canada, we all pay for people who do not take care of themselves. Statistics show that Canadians are healthier than Americans and I wonder if it is because we all have medical or if it is because there is a concerted effort to keep everyone healthy because if they are not, we all pay?
Just throwing that out there, not attacking anyone and not directing this at anyone.
