I need to run to the store tomorrow. I'm planning fun home things for the fourth. Not sure how Carlee will react.

Victoria Stillwell on "It's Me or the Dog" would teach the owners of frantic dogs

the "ENOUGH" command, said while holding an open palm in a "stop" position in front of the dog.

She said the dog is trying to protect the pack, and once the Alpha shows that she (you) is aware and in charge,

the dog can relax.

Don't know if that works, but it might be worth trying a few (hundred) times.

Thursday is to Wednesday
What lunch is to breakfast
Unless you have the flu
and can't go to your father's funeral
And then you look forward to dinner.
But we all know the favorite day of the week
is dessert. In all it's glory.
Saturday is beer and margarita's.
Sunday, steaks and baked potatoes.
But Monday?
Monday is that heinous day wherein time stands still
while you step on the scale.
And feel the weight of the week seep into your sad soul.
And promise will will be like salad.

More tennis for me.

I should also stop by my eye doctor and have a pressure check done, to see if going to two drops a day is working.

And, maybe make a hooch run.

And, think up something to make for dinner.

Dang, I'm going to be busier than I thought I was.wink

Have a good Thursday, everyone!

I'm here. Beautiful morning here. Boys are hanging out with my parents today.

No response to my email to the in-laws. I'm a little surprised they're missing the golden opportunity to rip me a new one. SIL sent Villanova championship t-shirts to the boys (both boys-LOL) so I sent her a picture of them wearing them, letting her know they arrived, they fit perfect, and the boys liked them. (Both SIL & FIL went to Villanova) She wrote back and was nice, but she asked if I sent the pic to her father, that he would like to see it. Yeah, right.

She's trying to hold the family together, trudy. She told DH that she promised their mother when she was dying that she would try....while I can appreciate her efforts, she has only heard their side of this story. If a card or the receipt for #1's gift card isn't forthcoming, she will hear our side.

I wouldn't, IKWTDS. JFK was just evacuated for a suspicious package, and now Andrews has an active shooter.

Morning everyone. That is about all I've got today. I'm just not feeling it today. The only good thing about today is pizza for lunch. Consolation delivery since we can't go out.

Morning, again.

We passed a little place that sells fireworks yesterday.

I wish I had been able to stop and get stuff.

I'll probably get some sparklers before Monday.

I fully expect to hear fireworks all weekend.

Trudy, sorry you are sick. Get some saline spray for your nose. It'll speed up the healing and help loosen and wash the infected mucus out.

Hope everyone has a great day.

I have those same neighbors.  Their July 4th is almost as big as professional displays & I don't mind that one but, they will be lighting off random fireworks starting tomorrow night if not tonight.  Always midnight or later.  I'm guessing after a night of swilling beer.  Then there are the other holidays that must be celebrated with booms & bangs late at night.  I don't have a dog anymore but poor Hooch would just shake & quiver.  He had meds but when they just shot them off in the middle of the night I didn't have time to properly medicate him before the noise started.

My ex & I had a dog that nearly jumped through our bedroom window any time firecrackers were lit. It never occurred to me that the neighbors were being rude, just celebratory. We just dealt with it.

I expect to start hearing fireworks Friday night. It usually starts a couple days before the big day.

I don't think they are rude, just annoying.  And midnight is really late to start setting them off.  July 4th & NYE fine I get fireworks.  Valentine's Day not really.

I would still think the mail would go to her.  IDK.  My niece is on my brother's insurance & she lives in SC.  I just assumed any medical bills would go to her.  I can't say I've given it much thought.

I think when you live in a community with very small yards and are so close to your neighbors it IS rude to not think of how your behavior affects your neighbors.  We are a small subdivision surrounded by farms.  But the houses here are close.  And within our subdivision fireworks are actually not allowed.  So first of all they're breaking the law.  Most of the time by July 4th we're on a burn ban.  That in itself is a huge issue.  And we've found shrapnel from other people's fireworks in our backyards many times.  So considering all that I do believe it is a bit rude to shoot off fireworks.  Especially knowing people have small children and pets.  If you wouldn't be outside at 2 am playing music that loud then you should probably rethink the fireworks.  Our neighbors start days before and go for days after.  As soon as the sun sets and until early morning.

We have a big fireworks celebration in our neighborhood. Every family buys a ton of fireworks and the dads and kids set them all off. I sit on the porch with a cool drank and watch...it usually takes about 3-4 hours to get through all of them.
This year, they will be doing it on Sunday and Monday night.
The clean-up is well worth the entertainment...

We have a neighbor down the street (actually, the boys' P.E. teacher) and we've gone there with our fireworks and chairs and a few other neighbors and we all shoot them off together, and drink beer and juice for the kids. The only thing I don't like is it doesn't usually get dark here until around 9:30.

Yeah... just got notice that the feds get to leave work 3 hours early tomorrow. On tax payer dollars. But contractors do not get to leave early. We have to work our full day, or take paid time off to leave early.

This is what we do too, only at a friends house. Fireworks are not allowed in our neighborhood. But even at their house there is a curfew of 11 pm. Police drive through and make sure everyone stops.
