EXCITEMENT! 2:30 a.m. the doorbell rang ....

2:30 a.m. the doorbell rang ....

It's a woman ...

telling a man to go away, go home ...

Spouse shouted through the door, "What do you want?"

then "I can't hear you !"

Woman opened the storm door, and told Spouse she wants us to call a taxi,

gave us the number of the Inwood Taxi company..

said her boyfriend had beaten her up

I called 9-1-1

then the Inwood taxi ...

Inwood taxi dispatcher said he has no idea where we are and won't send a taxi ..

2:34, two officers arrive

2:45 Police are leading her away, I opened the door and spoke with an officer,

she has no money,

they will take her either to the train station, or call her a taxi (she has no money and a battering boyfriend)

or something, but she won't be back here.

Officer: Were you awake?

Me: We are now ...

Do you live in the city or rural area, ed? Seems odd but good that she got help.

That's scary. I'm glad she got away from him.

Wow. I was always scared of being in that type of situation.

Oh Ed, you've the done the only sane thing. That poor woman though. The cops wouldn't take her to a battered women shelter?

She's lucky she got your door Ed. Thank you for helping her.

My doorbell rang about that time once. Guy got shot next door and was yelling for me to call the police. So I did. 911 dispatcher at one point says "the police are on their way, DO NOT go outside until a uniformed officer comes to get you" I was like, why the f do you feel the need to tell me that, I'm not going outside with a random dude bleeding on my porch and possibly the guy that caused the bleeding out there still!

I am so glad I don't live in a place that I have to be afraid of opening a door.

Glad the police got there before the boyfriend beat her up more.

** Suburb, a few miles east of JFK Airport (On Google Maps look for zip code 11563)

That's scary. I'm glad she got away from him.

** We heard her yelling at him to go away, the cops were on the way

The cops wouldn't take her to a battered women shelter?

 ** I didn't think to ask

DO NOT go outside until a uniformed officer comes to get you" I was like, why the f do you feel the need to tell me that,

** She told you not to go outside because she didn't know you're smarter than some others who HAVE gone out to help

Glad the police got there before the boyfriend beat her up more.

** me too
