My doctor said it means the chemo is working.

Any thoughts?

I understand there are many side effects. If the doctor says it's working, then it's working.

"chemo" means so many things, so many different drugs. It is beneficial for you to read up on the possible side effects of each one.

Ed, Apple is right.

You have to become your own advocate.

You need to know what every thing they give you does, side effects, and interactions.

And anytime you have a question, write it down.

Start a journal.

All the potential side effects are listed in the papers I read (and have a copy of) before I signed up for this trial.

You know those disclaimers we see in all the drug ads? May cause ...

well, there is a long list of likely, unlikely, and rare.

So be it, I prefer staying alive, so

it is what it is.

I'll know more tomorrow afternoon.

Thank you my friends,

Ed

I know, its is a bit daunting isn't it? All the "possible" side effects. They have to disclose every possibility to you though.

My doctor also said that the rash is a good thing. As a matter of fact, she said that of all the people that wind up being cured, they ALL reported getting horrible rashes on their face. Almost like acne. It doesn't just look painful, it IS painful. Like, the skin has been sucked dry of all of its nutrients and it is bone dry and hurting. It feels paper thin and fragile.

Here is a recent outbreak I had.... it was on the day that I was to meet my husband's new coworkers. I was NOT happy.

None of the over the counter lotions helped it. Not even the lotion that the doctor recommended. The only thing that works for me is the stuff the nurses use. Medline remedy with olivamine skin repair cream.

Cheerios, you don't realize just how beautiful you are!

Your strength and faith.

Even that rash is beautiful on you.

Yikes that looks painful. The chemo my SIL was on made her palms & feet all papery thin & cracking. She also said it was painful.

I hope your doc is right & it means the chemo is working. For both Ed & Cheerios.

YES! oh goodness yes! Cracks indeed! Imagine having papercuts on the ends of your fingers, but they dont heal. I put bandage tape on them to help them not hurt so much.
3M™ Medipore™ H Soft Cloth Surgical Tape

Perforated to tear about every 2 inches, tape is hypoallergenic, soft cloth surgical tape.

My MIL did not get a rash. She also didn't survive.

The rash is a good thing. Be glad for it!

Cherrios, you rock the rash! Beautiful inside and out!

Oh yikes you got that too.  I'm sorry.  I've seen it up close & it looks very painful.  Hopefully it gets you out of doing dishes.  My teenage niece stepped up & took on that chore.

I have a dishwasher for the dishes, but cleaning the kitchen counters and eating potato chips are the worst.

There is a cream lotion used here for all rashes related to radiation and chemo.
It is called Glaxal Base

From what I understand it is now available in the USA.

Would aloe gloves help?

Wouldn't be practical for eating or cleaning but might be soothing.
