DD and I were planning on going to the cities for the day - last girls' day before college - but we can't because protestors are all over the cities still. Yesterday they had the highway blocked and also some major streets downtown. DD is kind of bummed. She wanted her fave restaurant one more time before she leaves.

Yep. She has a summer bucket list for things she wants to do before college. Spending the day in the cities with me and going into all the little funky shops we like and having dinner at our place...that was my favorite thing on the list and we won't have another opportunity to do it. She is leaving in a few days for her summer job and when she gets back we will pack for college and leave the next day.

We had a nice afternoon - but it wasn't the same.

Traveling across the land, searching far and wide hasn’t exactly worked out for all Pokemon Go users. After luring victims to their location with the new "augmented reality" app, four suspects have been arrested as police in O’Fallon, Missouri responded to a report of an armed robbery early Sunday morning.

The teens, whose ages range from 16 to 18, are suspected to be behind 10 to 11 armed robberies in St. Louis and St. Charles counties in which they allegedly used the app to bait victims, according to Sgt. Bill Stringer. Police also recovered a handgun from the suspects’ black BMW.

AND...

The app was released in July but has already caused issues around people’s physical safety, such as driving while using the app.

“It’s causing people to be distracted. They’re going around catching these pikachus,” Stringer said. “Clearly, it’s a distraction.”

It's an app for your phone. It uses gps and puts Pokémon around your area and you collect them. I downloaded and deleted it within 5 minutes.

We made it down town. There are probably 30 people walking around, playing, talking and making new friends.

It's taken the DS game and given it legs.

It's been fun so far.

That was fun.

Seems every where we went people were playing.

It's a game.

You go to the park to play.

You go to the mall to get out of the house.

You go to bars, concerts, movies, all kinds of things.

And you meet people and discuss things.

This is just another way of doing that.

We had fun.

It's basically a world wide scavenger hunt.

It's fun.

I don't know how the actual 'game' works, but I like the idea of this. Usually when playing video games, you sit at home with headphones on playing a game while talking to other people playing the game (which is cool too, meeting people in the gaming world, kinda like how we talk on the message board) but this takes it to the next level and gets you out of the house as well. And apparently meeting people IRL who play the game, not just talking on headphones. I think it's a cool concept. I've never been into video games, so not really my thing, but DH and DD both like them, so I think this might be a good thing for them to do together.

Ah, okay. I've never in my life played those kinds of video games. Yeah, the biggest online game I was into was when Atari came out and you had tennis and there was a line/paddle on each side that went up and down. I remember pacman but not being into it.

Ouch, DS just told me that there's a ring of guys (I think in Saint Louis?) that are targeting the Pokemon people. They are setting up places where they supposedly put the cards and then waiting for people to come and robbing them.
