The disease is grayscale. It's the dragon version of chicken pox. It will eventually drive you mad and is highly contagious. She was cured as a child.
Stannis is Robert's brother. Robert who was married to Cersei and was king. Stannis is his brother and sees himself as rightful king now that Robert is dead and his children are known to be Jamie's.

Thank you.
I know Stannis' lineage, I just keep forgetting his face. Is he the dude who demanded that Mance be burned when he wouldn't take a knee?

flan
Yes, he is the one that burned Mance at the stake. Not my favorite guy.

We started watching it. Not our type of entertainment...It was quickly turned off.
I can see why some people wouldn't like it. It's violent and there is a lot of nudity. But if you can get past that, the story lines are really well written. But to each their own!

I have read all the books and am anxiously waiting for the next book to be released.
We just got access to the show, not sure if I will watch it or not. I know it is different than the books and that usually annoys me greatly.
I was unable to watch the Harry Potter movies because they were too different from the books.
I just sat there thinking, "that's not right. They left this out. They didn't give any of the backstory for this, wth?!" It kinda makes it hard for me to enjoy the movie.
Has anyone here watched the show and read the books? Will it ruin it for to watch the show?
I gave up on the books, but the show was enjoyable to continue watching. I am glad that the show is finally up to date with the books... now EVERYONE is watching with anticipation. SO sick of the "read the books" people.
I read all the books Tang. I enjoy the series. You have to go in accepting that an 800 page book can't be shot page by page and make peace with that. If you can do that, you will enjoy it.
I also thought the Harry Potter movies were sh!t. I hated them actually. Woefully unfaithful to the books. They captured the mood of the books and that's about it. I feel that GoT does a better job than that.

It's 100% true to the world George R. R. Martin has created.
As far as storytelling goes, I would put it on a par with Deadwood and The Wire...both complex and excellent.

I read half of the first book after I watched the first season.
Other than changing the age of a few of the female characters, I found that the show followed the book very closely.
I don't know if you will like the show or not, Tang.
Husband and I have just started on season 6 of the show. Husband is hooked. I think the show is really close to the books. They left out a bunch of minor characters and season five is where the show really started to take a different direction than the books.
I can hardly wait for the rest of the show and books to come out. I need to know what happens!
