Donald Trump's campaign denied that Melania Trump intentionally plagiarized first lady Michelle Obama in a Monday night speech and claimed that the media and Hillary Clinton supporters are pushing the flap that roiled the Republican convention on Tuesday.

"There is a political tint to this whole issue," campaign manager Paul Manafort told reporters, declining to comment in detail as to how Mrs. Trump's speech was put together and indicating that the campaign did not plan to fire anyone over the incident.

Other Republicans expressed concern about the incident that marred the convention's opening night and suggested that consequences are in order. Ex-Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski said Mrs. Trump's speechwriter should be fired, telling CNN: "I know what it's like to be fired by the Trump campaign."

While two paragraphs of Melania Trump's remarks matched the text of Michelle Obama's 2008 convention speech nearly word-for-word, Manafort said Monday's speech used "common words" to discuss family values.

While I drove in to work today I was listening to the radio, they played the two speeches and compared sentence by sentence. It was pretty obvious that there were spots where it was verbatim with Michelle's speech.

I'm pretty sure Melania didn't write her own speech, whoever did should be held accountable for this debacle.

I don't see a problem with Michelle Obama dressing casually but I'm a person who is loathe to dress up for anything so my opinion is biased. I do, however, dress up when required so if she was on official business, she should've took the time to dress appropriately.

Well she doesn't write her own speeches, she gives her thought to a speechwriter. It was the fault of the writer. I wonder whose speech Michelle ripped her's off from.
