It only took one look for Blake Shelton to know he had a confidante in Gwen Stefani.
Since they began officially dating last November, the country crooner has praised his girlfriend anddefended her whenever critics or fans take aim at something she does. He's her biggest fan and someone, he says, who made him feel normal again in the wake of his divorce from Miranda Lambert, whom he was married to for four years.
"Gwen saved my life," he told Billboard magazine. "Who else on earth could understand going through a high-profile divorce from another musician? You can't even imagine the similarities in our divorces."
Blake reportedly told "The Voice" producers he was splitting with Miranda during a meeting, one that was attended by Gwen.
"I won't forget that day. I looked over at Gwen — who I didn't really know — and she had these huge tears in her eyes. I thought, 'Wow, she feels super bad for me!'" he said. "She didn't tell me much, because we didn't know each other at the time, but she said, 'I'm going through something very similar to what you're going through. I understand. And I hate it.'"
A month after Blake and Miranda split, Gwen filed for divorce from Gavin Rossdale, her husband of 13 years.
Blake said he and Gwen leaned on each other during the difficult time and something started happening.
"That's kind of how our friendship and bond started, that day. It went from that, to checking in on each other once a week through email — 'This s--- happened to me, what happened to you?' — to maybe three times a week, then every day, to 'Hey, here's my phone number if you ever want to text,'" he told the mag. "Next thing I know, I wake up and she's all I care about, and I'm wondering if she feels the same about me."
She did, and the two have been inseparable ever since, even recording a song together, "Go Ahead and Break My Heart."
"When we recorded the vocals for some of these songs, I was only six months removed from when all the crap went down," he said of his split. "When you have a broken heart — at least, when I do — you got to get it out of your system. You want people to sympathize with you. I was at rock bottom, in the middle of hell."
I'm glad they are happy together. The both seem like really nice people.
I like them both as well.
I was concerned that they were both "rebounding" but they seem pretty darn happy.
Even if they are rebounding, they helped each other through some very dark times. They can cross a breakup bridge if they get there. I hope not though. I think they look cute together. But how much older is Gwen than Blake?
ETA: Not as much as I thought. She is 46 & he is 40. He is older than I thought he was.

A flock of flirting flamingos is pure, passionate, pink pandemonium-a frenetic flamingle-mangle-a discordant discotheque of delirious dancing, flamboyant feathers, and flamingo lingo.
Not a fan of either really. He was learing at other women while married to Miranda and that is a big turn-off for me. She can't carry a note in a bucket, but I do think she has a good sense of style.
