Dad writes ingenious contract for kids to sign before they can get a dog
It's many a child's dream to own a puppy. In fact, wanting a puppy doesn't necessarily stop the moment you grow up.
After all, few adults can honestly remain unmoved by a tiny little bundle of canine cuteness.
However, some adults DO need to be convinced that having a dog is a good idea. Mostly you parents whose kids are campaigning tirelessly for one.
It's not that you hate dogs. But much of the reluctance comes from knowing YOU'D have to house train it, walk it, deal with it when it gets sick and- the best bit - pick up its mess.
As a parent, you basically get all the rubbish and messy parts, whereas your child gets all fun bits - the cuddles and games.
But let's say you're perilously close to caving in and getting a dog - is there any way you can ensure your kids take responsibility for it?
You can even forego the pricey lawyer, all you need is a bit ingenuity - have a look and see .
Also, what are the consequences if a point is broken or not met?

I wondered the same thing Lily. Is dad going to constantly threaten to get rid of the dog. And getting a dog knowing you are going to rehome it or worse take it to the shelter if kids don't comply is just wrong. That is not responsible & they do not deserve the love of a dog.
I think it's a good way to get kids thinking about what they are signing up for and to remind them of it if (when) they start losing interest, but yea, no way to enforce.
