Morning everyone. I thought it was Thursday today. My boss is usually off on Wednesday & I go out to lunch on Thursday but this week is different & had me thinking it was Thursday. On a happy note someone brought in Dunkin donuts.
It's flippin 77 here. And drizzling. The real feel is only 82.
It's actually quite chilly.

DH just discovered some "volunteer" watermelons in his patch!
He had tilled the old vines after we harvested the main crop, and he
just discovered some volunteers. The runners are about 4-5 feet long,
and there are a couple of melons about 12-15 inches long. We'll see
what springs up!
I found out something really hurtful that was said about me today at work. I just got transferred to a new crew and my "friend" (I thought we were friends but I don't know why he would tell me this) from my old crew said that Tom, a guy on the new crew thought that they were going to get either my friend or another guy on the crew, "but they just got me." And then he laughed about it like the whole thing was so funny. I know it's at work and I shouldn't care what my coworkers think and to just do my job but I've known all these guys for years and I had no idea they thought so little of me. It's hard enough being in a dominantly male work environment, and I feel really humiliated.
Just venting.

I'd be hurt too, but try not to dwell on it. I think your friend really is a friend & didn't realize it would sting. He is a male in a male work environment & doesn't understand your perspective.

Awww, I know that hurt, but try not to take it personally. It's not that they got you, it's that they didn't get their friend, which they were probably hoping for.
It's like when you go to camp and you hope they room you with your best friend, Susie, but you get Jan instead. Nothing wrong with Jan, she's perfectly nice, and it will be fine, but you are still a little disappointed you didn't get Susie as your roomie.

Vette, my spin (being in software development, I have LOTS of negative experience with male coworkers, LOL): For reasons still unknown to me, a female in a male-dominated industry, especially one who is even half-way decent at what she does, intimidates some men. I don't understand it, nor does every man I work with suffer from it. But it is real, and it hurts. There is so, NO good reason for this behavior except insecurity. Just my 2 cents.
