Lousiana Newspaper urges Obama to end vacation and come to their state

I do not know how to get this to show up here,  but this is the link.

If anyone wants to post article that would be awesome

I think he should at least leave it and go and check the area out personally, esp. as he has bashed other Presidents for what he deemed was ignoring similar situations while they were in office!  but....unfortunately he has not deemed it *important* enough to end one of his many many well documented vacations for this

Sad state of affairs, but it does not seem out of his usual *style*

I wonder if Kanye is going to announce to the world that Obama doesn't care about black people. Like he said about Bush...

O is in cruise mode, about to get out of the hell of the Whitehouse and is taking advantage of every last tax dollar he can. He may go to Louisiana. He will go maybe next week, give a stupid speech and be in and out in 2 hours, tops.

Honestly, I never understood the need for a president to go to these kinds of places.

What are they really going to do?

It takes police and such away from what they need to be doing so they can babysit.

Send a representative to assess damages and make decisions.

Lily, true, but I guess my point was more that he bashed so many for doing the same exact thing he is! double standard.....

Yeah, I know. I understand the question.

And I see the point.

Order Army and National Guard troops and equipment to go in and help.

That can be done from anywhere.

I don't believe people realize the impact a visit from a president has on everything.

Sure. It looks like they care when they visit.

But it takes police and other civil servants away from the important and immediate need of helping people and puts them on babysitting duty.

Others have done it.  And any disruption is overpowered by the sense of hope and support that is felt by people who have lost everything.  The visit can be done not in the heart of the disaster, but nearby, and does not have to interrupt the clean up.  But I do get what you are saying.  A visit by the President just needs to well thought out do not to disrupt.

The president cannot do that. That request has to come from the governor.

That was the problem in Katrina. The governor was slow to calling in the troops. Only the liberal media blamed Bush, when he couldn't act until the governor called it in.

They did make the call.  And the National Guard is there helping.  Trump sent more provisions and mobilized many of his volunteers to help with the clean up process.

But you read some sources and Trump is only posing for pictures and hasn't brought a truck load of supplies, and didn't use his own resources to fund the trip, nor did he use his own security.

His visit didn't cost anyone a single cent.
