So we had a bit of an adventure at lunch today. There is a hole in the wall taco place that we used to eat at often as teenagers. I haven't been there in over 20 years. We saw a notice in Yelp last week advertising that they had remodeled & were now reopened so we decided to give it a go. It is clear on the other side of town & not easy to get to from here. The straight through is loaded with traffic & lights at every intersection. So we took a very convoluted route, actually got lost because they have moved some roads. We finally get there & the sign in the window said coming soon. So we ended up eating fast food burgers on the bad side of town & were still 15 minutes late

Faith isn't something that keeps bad things from happening. Faith is what helps us get through bad things when they do happen.
Yeah, irritating. Some people who didn't get a raise due to being maxed out got a lump sum. They have been told don't spend it. They may have to give it back.

So here is what happened I guess.
For the longest time lots of nurses have been unhappy and leaving over salary issues. Hilton Head pays an average of $5 an hour more for nurses. No one but new graduates want to come work at our facility. Then once they get some experience they quit and move on.
Then, the local news paper requested a listing of anyone in the hospital that makes over a certain amount of money a year. We are a public hospital so under the freedom of information act the administrators have to disclose this info. The paper plans to publicize a list of everyone's salary. I'm thinking they are worried once the staff sees salaries of management and nurse managers that there will be a huge sh!t storm.
So, about two weeks ago there was an announcement that they have done a survey and people are indeed paid less than elsewhere in the region and there will be an immediate raise for about half the staff in the hospital. They rushed and gave everyone an amount without factoring things like total experience and I don't know what else. Some people didn't get anything and there was a ton of bitching and moaning. SO now they have to go through everyone one by one and decide if they get a raise and how much.
Stopped at a co-worker's house on the way home. I was supposed to water his plants while he's on vacation and I totally forgot until today. Luckily we've had a couple rainy days and they seem fine.
I'm now home and in the pool with a drink and my book. Just started Girl on the Train
OMG the open house was 3 fn hours! And it was hot. I sweated the whole time. Loved meeting DD's teachers but could have done with out the 45 minute talk in the hot gym with the Principal. I was not prepared for such a long night. Luckily I am going in late to work tomorrow so not a problem schedule wise.
That is really a master FU SB. They must have rushed to get the raises out and so made lots of mistakes along the way.

I'm now home and in the pool with a drink and my book. Just started Girl on the Train
I read the first few chapters and got distracted. Need to pick it back up. Just finished the Woman in cabin 10. It was good.

On another topic, but geek related. DD went to help her old teacher set up the classroom the other day. She is a great teacher and friend. DD told her she went to a Steppenwolf concert. The teacher knows that band! DD was amazed because she thinks that teacher is cool. So now the band is elevated to almost cool status!
