Would you report this to the crew?

I watched a video of a plane crash that was avoidable, a new 737-400.

Quick summary, there was a loud bang from an engine, and the plane started vibrating badly.

I didn't know this, but the pilots cannot see the engines, and rely on instruments to know which engine had blown.

They mis-read their instruments and shut down the right engine.

In the meantime, left-side passengers could see sparks flying out of the left engine.,

which no one reported.

Would you have reported the engine failure/fire to the crew?

I probably would be the one reporting it loud and clear to all the passengers as well as crew, pilots, the clouds, the sky, and our heavenly Father.

The pilot(s) misread their instruments?? Never fly that airline again.
To answer you question, yes, I would have said something to a cabin attendant if one was able to be found....

The aircraft was 2 weeks old.

The pilots had had no training on the new all digital instrument panel for the engines..

Who allowed pilots to fly an aircraft they had no training on and what kind of pilot agreed to fly it?! Sounds highly sketchy. I agree with Karl - never fly that airline as no one, not even the pilots care about safety.

Yeah, that makes no sense to me.  The FAA has extremely strict regulations regarding pilot training.  You sure this article is not BS?

Yes, watch the video.

What finally set them into the death roll was, having lost the left engine, they cut back power to both the right engine (good idea) and the center engine

(bad, bad, bad idea). They should have pushed the center engine to full power, and idled the right engine.

Yes, so I said I would not fly that airline again.    Doesn't matter how old the aircraft is; the pilots should always be trained.   No excuses...

What kind of airline operates this way???

Perhaps a reality video or some kind of "made up" story.... Just does not make any sense at all. And with all that can be done with videos, film, etc. today I have a hard time believing this...

This happened back in 1989. There aree much better (not perfect) procedures in place today.
