Do the Starbucks mocha frappachino things in the glass bottles count as coffee?

I had a Starbucks Capuchino a couple of weeks ago and really enjoyed it. The first time I have ever had a Starbucks product.... (Yes, I live in a cave and only come out during the 4th full moon of the year.)

I've tried Starbucks but I don't really like it. It always seems bitter to me.

I like coffee.

But I don't drink it too often cause it is a very effective diuretic for me.

Have you tried the Werthers coffee candy? Those are addictive.

When it do drink coffee it's regular. 2 cream, 2 sugar. Sometimes I use a flavored creamer but not often.

Yes, Lily, that is a great candy. Their Butterscotch is not bad, either.

I eat a lot of Werther's, not the sugar free, of course, but I don't particularly like the hard candies. The soft chewy caramels and the reisens are my favorite.

Werther's are made in Germany. No GMOs.

I like those candies. There aren't too many candies I don't like.

I don't understand people buying take-out coffee. It seems like a waste of money. I'm all for sitting in a coffee shop drinking coffee. But running in and grabbing a cup to go? I make my own and pour it in a nice insulated coffee mug and drink it on the road. I started adding soy creamer when I went through menopause. The soy seemed to imitate estrogen and kept my hormones regulated better. I still use it, although I ran out a few days ago and have been using whole milk. This time of the year I like to add pumpkin pie spice. My preferred method is to put it in the grounds before brewing, but DH prefers unflavored coffee. So I sprinkle it on, and even though it doesn't mix well, it does lend a nice flavor.

I need more Kahlua coffee grounds or beans. I'm almost out.

It will be a sad morning when I use the last of it.

Now if I could remind myself to buy more..

When we went non-gmo, I had to give up my favorite creamer.  That was one of the hardest things to give up. Then we found Aldi's simply organic creamer, but now, they have stopped stocking that!  I can't use the soy creamers because soy is one of the biggest GMO crops, so we went to the Silk Almond milk creamer - vanilla, and it's very good.  We like it a lot and it's non-gmo verified.

My favorite new coffee is at BJs. It's Wellsley Farms organic Peruvian coffee. It's so smooth and not too acidic.

I love Starbucks frappes but they are so loaded with calories I rarely buy them. But they are delicious. Like an adult milkshake with a kick.

I don't drink coffee regularly. I prefer tea in the morning.

Now the important question.

Brew, perk, drip, press?

I think the best coffee comes from a percolator or boiled on the stove.

What do you prefer?

I love the way the house smells with a percolator. Reminds me of my grandparents' home when I would visit as a girl. I have a press, but find the coffee is good but cools off too quickly. We go with a drip system because it's fastest and most convenient.

You can buy double walled stainless steel presses now, that hold the heat better.

Pawpaw, my dad's dad, made his in a pot on a stove.

Regular pot like you'd make soup in.

Put the desired amount of water in and then the grounds.

On the wood stove.

His coffee would get you out of bed in the mornings.

I grew up using the old Chem-X - remember those? the hourglass
shape? with a wooden grip for the outside of the narrow part?
that was held together with a leather thong?

Now I use a programmable Mr. Coffee.

Know the easiest way to keep a glass coffee decanter clean?
Denture cleanser!
Yep! Fill the decanter with hottest tap water - all the way to the
top - and drop in two denture cleanser tablets (the less expensive
store brand is fine). Wait 10 minutes, then rinse & dry. Sparkly!

Momala, you should write one of those advice columns like the old Heloise one with pearls of household wisdom!

 I agree!

As to coffee - I like it strong and black. I like a lot of the flavors but occasionally come across one I don't like. My favorites are hazelnut, french vanilla, and amaretto.

Have you tried marshmallow hot chocolate creamer? It's yummy!
Mexican chocolate creamer is yummy too, just a touch of cinnamon!

The marshmallow creamer sounds too sweet.
